🤔 Before you jump into a new diet plan, pause for a second and ask yourself this: "Can I realistically see myself doing this for a lifetime or even a few months?" 🤷‍♀️

If the answer is a hesitant "no," it might be time to rethink your approach. The key to lasting change is finding a plan that you can sustain in the long run. 🕒💪

Is it worth it to live extra healthy but have zero joy in your life? I don’t think so! Here’s just a few things you’ll see me do or talk about as a Health and fitness coach that may surprise you!

You going to see me in the drive thru line at least 4 times a month but prob a lot more.

I eat chips almost daily

I eat candy and sweets almost daily

I if I feel my body needs it I’ll take off from working out something for a day, a week, or even longer.

I drink alcohol in moderation

My workouts are boring and usually consist of the same type of movements.

They also usually only have 5-6 different movements each workout

I eat cake and other treats at parties

I don’t believe you have to “kill” itself in the gym to have a good workout. I don’t believe in “tearing” the body down to build it up.

My final coaching philosophy!
Always Listen To Your Body

Your body will tell you a lot of things if you listen. There will be days when you simply feel too tired to get that workout in and that is ok. The key here is, to be honest with yourself. Am I really too tired or am I just not motivated? If you are too tired it is ok to take a break. However, if you lack the motivation to get moving commit to a 10 minute workout, usually about a warmup and one circuit. Chances are you’ll push through and do more.

Workouts aren’t punishment & shouldn’t be so hard you too sore/tired to move.

Beast mode was introduced somewhere back in the early 2000s suddenly everyone was going as hard as they could, for as long as they could. Resulting in them crashing on the couch afterward or being too sore to move the next day. Workouts sculpt the body, but moving throughout the day is more important for fat loss. If you’re too tired to walk around the house for simple task you’ll cheat yourself, valuable energy expenditure.

When clients walk into your gym, do they feel empowered? Do they feel strong and confident during sessions?

Check out these 3 easy ways to boost body image in your fitness space:

1️⃣ Vary your compliments and words of encouragement

Make sure you aren’t focused only on aesthetics or scale-based results. Now, acknowledging fat loss isn’t a bad thing, if that’s her goal. But rather than saying:

❌ “Wow! You lost 3 more pounds, you definitely look skinnier!”

You might say:

✅ “You’ve been tracking nicely toward your goal. I’m so proud of you!”

You can also mention:

➡️ How dedicated she is
➡️ How she values seeing goals through to the end
➡️ What a pleasure she is to coach

… and so on.

2️⃣ Use a wide variety of images in your gym and marketing materials

If you only showcase the stereotypical “fit” woman (e.g., thin, lightly muscled, cisgender, white, no visible disabilities), you’re not creating a welcoming space for all bodies.

❌ Even unintentionally highlighting only one body type may make folks think your gym isn’t for them.

✅ If possible, share a wide variety of healthy, strong women of different shapes, sizes, races, ability levels, ages, cultural backgrounds, and types of fitness pursuits within your materials.

3️⃣ Be vulnerable and show clients your human side.

You don’t have to be the all-knowing coach who tells clients what to do with their bodies AND does everything right themselves.

❌ If your clients think you’re the pinnacle of health and never eat pizza or miss workouts, they may not tell you if they’re struggling.

✅ Be authentic with them. Make sure they know you’re not perfect and you don’t expect them to be either.

Coaching philosophy 2&3!

Your Diet Should Never Be So Restrictive That You Can’t Enjoy Life

Most of the time when I say diet I am referring to the noun and not the verb. What you typically eat on a daily basis. Most people believe to lose weight your diet cannot include the foods you enjoy most. The problem with this mindset is that once you tell yourself you cannot have that cookie your mind wants it more! Allow yourself treats and snacks and you’ll be much happier in life and that is the end goal, isn’t it?

You Should Be Able To See Yourself Eating This Way For A Lifetime

Diets can be a great resource if you are wanting to lose a quick 5-10 pounds. Diets, however, are not meant to be sustainable. They are short-term and I don’t typically recommend them. Instead, I will teach you a lifestyle. How to make healthier substitutions, prioritize protein and even how to eat at events and parties.
