12 Street Clinic is going to be opened as an internship site in the near future. Before this can be officially available, Elizabeth Fowler has requested that there needs to be a licensed SW to volunteer as a preceptor at 12th street. Would ya'll know of any SW who would want to volunteer at 12th street, say once a month? The clinic is open Monday and Wednesday 4-8pm and Thursday 4-6pm.

Volunteers with the Russ Bus say the wet winter we've had caused the homeless camp to get muddy. The people who live here are working homeless so they have had to trek through the mud to get to and from work.

The second issue of SSWO’s newsletter will be published this spring! We want to know what our students and faculty have done this semester so that we can share your great news with everyone. If you presented at a conference, received an award(s), spoke at an event, or maybe you have pictures from community events, volunteer events, class presentations, etc, please send them to me, Dr. Turturro, or any SSWO officer by Friday, April 29 along with a brief description of the event. The Student Social Work Organization (SSWO) is pleased to announce that we are offering two scholarships to two SSWO members to attend the NASW Arkansas Annual Conference. Registration will be paid for the three-day conference on March 30th through April 1st, at the Wyndham Riverfront Hotel, in Little Rock. To be considered for the scholarships, SSWO members must: (1) be a member of the NASW and (2) write a short, two page, double-spaced essay of why you should be selected to receive the scholarship. Proof of NASW membership can be a copy of your current membership from the website or a copy of the email confirmation of paid membership. Any student may join NASW online at www.socialworkers.org. Student membership is $57.00 for BSW and MSW students. Winners of the scholarships will be selected based on merit and/or financial need. The deadline to submit your essay and provide proof of NASW membership is March 7th, 2016 by 3 p.m. Applications received after this date and time will NOT be reviewed. Please submit these items by email or a hardcopy to Dr. Carolyn Turturro or Dr. Tracey Barnett.
