Our patient successfully up-dosed her cashew and peanut today. She is highly allergic to nuts and peanuts and now she is tolerating 5 mg of peanut daily and 10 mg of cashew daily. She will come weekly until eventually she will be eating about 8 peanuts and cashews a day and be able to freely eat whatever she wants without fear of an allergic reaction.

Today our patient E.M started food immunotherapy (OIT) to cashew and peanut. E.M has been allergic to peanut and cashew her whole life and today took the first steps to regain her food independence. She did very well and had no reactions. She will continue at home dosing and come back to the clinic in a week for a dose escalation. Fun fact: cashew and pistachio are botanically related so at the end of her treatment she will also be able to tolerate pistachios!
