Genealogy Summer Day 59 has taken me to Canada! 🇨🇦 I am dropping off a family history donation that was given to NCGS (but was more Ontario than NY). 🥰 The border guard was curious and had to ask me why I was crossing the border to visit a library. 😄

My 5th great-grandfather’s signature from 1821!! 🖊️ Genealogy Summer Day 46!

To the honorable the Senate
& house of representatives of the
United States of North America
The Petetion of Samuel
Harding of the County of Tioga in the
State of Pennsylvania
In humble manner
showeth that you Petetioner has
made application in the manner and
form prescribed by the last act of the
afs. [aforesaid? assigned?] Congress for a pension in consid-
eration of his services during the Revolutionary
War, that your petitioner has been denied
relief from the course[?] And by reason of
his not having served in the Army of the
United States during the term of Nine months
Your Petitioner begs leave to the state to your
Honorable Body that he made proof to the
Clerk of the War Office / a Mr [or Wm?] Edwards/ that
he the said Petetioner had served the term
of ten full months under the command of
Col.s Vose & Putnam & the said Mr [or Wm]
Edwards refused the said petitioner his
pension as applied for by reason of part of
his Services being performed having been
performed after Peace had been declared,
& made, atho’ [although?] the Services of your petitioner
did continue after to the end of Ten full
months in the whole, your Petetioner prays
your honorable body may consider
[back]
his case and do justice according to the
Laws of the land

We the subscribers do hereby Certify that
the above and before named Samuel Harding
is the same Samuel Harding who applied
for a Pension under the last act of Congress
on the subject and was refused, and
further that he is very poor has a large
family of small children, and if the
Services which he declares he has rendered
to his country is true he certainly is an
object worthy the attention of his country-
men
