That Chiropractic began in 1895 when D. D. Palmer of Davenport, Iowa, adjusted a janitor named Harvey Lillard. Mr. Lillard had a profound hearing loss due to an accident for 17 years. His hearing was restored when a subluxation in his spine was corrected. D. D. Palmer immediately thought he had found the cure for deafness. Instead, he found a way to correct neurological interference in the body. Since, the nervous system controls and regulates the functions of every cell, organ and tissue in the body, he had actually discovered a whole- body healthcare system, that we know today as Chiropractic. The Reverend Samuel W**d is given credit for naming Chiropractic using two Greek words, one, cheir which means hand and praktikos which we use for the word practice or to do stuff. Combined they create the word Chiropractic which translates to mean, treatment by hand.
