The Healthy Loma Linda Coalition was founded in the summer of 2011 to protect our Blue Zone community and help our local government become more "Public Health" minded. Designing a Healthy City happens when the public health educators work in harmony with city officials to implement ordinances that promote a healthy environment. This includes (but is not limited to) the following:

-Healthy restaurants and food outlets
-Farmers market / local sustainable growers
-Community gardens
-Community centers and parks
-More bike lanes
-Hiking trails
-Nutrition education programs in grades K-12

As a Blue Zone we are essentially a role model and have the obligation to expand our know-how to surrounding cities and to whom ever wishes to implement positive changes to their communities.

General information

Loma Linda is a Blue Zone. With pride comes responsibility. In 2004, Dan Buettner teamed up with National Geographic and hired the world’s best longevity researchers to identify pockets around the world where people lived measurably better. In these Blue Zones they found that people reach age 100 at higher rates, due to common lifestyle factors including regular exercise, purposeful living, healthy eating (high in plants), and altruistic attitude.
