✨ Postpartum Acne. Let’s get into it.
After having 3 children, I can say firsthand that postpartum acne is real. I’ve struggled with it each time at the end of my breastfeeding journeys - especially cystic acne along my jawline, preauricular area, and little bumps across my forehead.
But now, with my third baby, I’m better equipped to fight back and feel like myself💜
Here’s what I’ve learned:
▫️ Cystic jawline acne → often hormonal. These deeper breakouts respond best to retinol, which regulates cell turnover and helps prevent new cysts from forming. I personally use and recommend Obagi Retinol 0.5% (available directly through me). Pairing it with a high quality moisturizer keeps skin balanced and prevents irritation.
▫️ Forehead bumps → often yeast-related (fungal folliculitis). Sulfur is amazing here, since it’s both antifungal and keratolytic, helping calm texture and rebalance the skin. (Rodan + Fields Unblemish Cream is one spot treatment option, Ketoconazole shampoo works great for this as well!)
▫️ Small inflamed pimples → salicylic acid can help unclog pores and reduce redness, though gentle use is key if you’re also using retinol.
And for anyone feeling stuck with stubborn breakouts, remember: a professional chemical peel can speed up cell turnover, target pigment from old breakouts, and give your skin a fresh start. This is best tolerated if you’re already following a supportive skincare routine - we don’t want to target compromised skin.
The real secret here is consistency + the right products.
