REMINDER: make notes of your progress. You will thank yourself for it later.
2014———>2021
6 years of progress. No filter.

Thank you .dumont inspiring me to take stock of the years ... and I happened to have taken a post-back day pic for the first time in... maybe a year.
That’s coronavirus for you.

Reminder 2; the worthwhile isn’t fast to earn. I pay my dues every day towards a choice I made almost a decade ago to lift. This journey has taken me so many amazing places, but it’s always good to take it in once in a while.

Take pictures. Write down goals. Write down WINS.

WORK

Then reap the benefits of your dedication.

When we’re trying something new, often we have expectations that we will not struggle or possibly fail in our attempts. ❕This failure is not a sign to give up—it’s a sign you’re learning!
Continued practice, embracing the “conscious incompetence”, knowing that I will fail and struggle in my attempts to achieve what I want, will result in eventual competence, and finally, I will be able to practice my achievement without struggle or failure.
Babies don’t just stand up and walk one day 👶👣 Neither will you, and that’s GREAT!

m i n d f u l n e s s • how I see it
To me, emotions and feelings are much like the waves in the ocean. They ebb, flow, crash, repeat. Some swells are immense and wash up high on shore, other times the tide is low, and the waves are gentle.
• the waves will always come. We much accept this.
• we can, however, be mindful of these waves and observe them, rather than be overcome and drown in an ocean of emotion.
• when we feel overwhelmed, it can feel a lot like treading water. Treading water, just keeping your head above the waves to survive.
• being mindful doesn’t mean we aren’t feeling the waves of emotion, it means that we are pulling ourselves back to shore to observe the waves so we can wisely choose how we want to react. If we are lost in the tides, the only choice we have is to swim to survive.
• mindfulness is a skill and like any other skill, we must learn and train ourselves to use this skill. Think back to the first time you squatted a barbell, did it feel natural? But over time, with practice, you learned to squat without having to constantly think about it and correct your form.
• try practicing mindfulness over the course of the holidays, be curious about what you are feeling, when, and why, without getting lost in the “waves” of the emotion, without judging those feelings. It’s not good or bad to feel one way or another, it just is.

double KB flow | lateral lunge switch
🔥 switch it up with this weight-shifting, agility kettlebell flow—two kettlebells are needed for this move
➖ start with a lateral dead lunge, this means kettlebells all the way to the floor
➖ staying low, quickly switch the legs and shift the weight to the opposite leg
➖lunge up while cleaning the inside kettlebell up to the shoulder in one swift motion
➖reverse that baby up and work it back and forth for time
FOUR ROUNDS — WORK 60 SECONDS ON — REST 30 SECONDS
As always, let me know if you have any questions and tag me if you try it out!

Exercise is not just 🦵physical💪
Mental health and strength benefit from exercise just as much as your muscles do. Sometimes, exercise can be cathartic and serve as an outlet for overwhelming emotions. Today, slamming a tire was an outlet for me.
There’s a lot to be frustrated about right now. There’s a lot of grief and struggle around us and happening to us. Sometimes self care looks like this, and less like a bubble bath.
Sometimes it is a bubble bath 🛁
Both are great.

For my steel mace people, a workout I’d recommend doing in a wide open space! Preferably outside... beach is ideal 🏄🏻‍♂️
🗯Be sure to switch your hand grip between sets, keep it even
🔺Please do not attempt 360°s if you have any shoulder pain 🔺urquides thank you for the waterfall I continually use in my practice, much love ❤️
