I've recently picked up coloring🖍️ as a way to alleviate stress and anxiety. This activity has helped stop my thoughts from racing, and at the end I have a cute picture to enjoy. I'm obsessed! 🎨

For real though 🤯
Just because an illness hasn't manifested into something you can see, doesn't mean it's not real. You don't owe anyone an explanation, save your spoons for those who deserve them ♥️

This girl had my heart from the moment I met her over three years ago. I'm grateful to call her my soul horse♥️

ChiChi doubles as a therapist as well, listening to all my hopes, my dreams, anxieties, fears. She just sits, listens, and rubs her head on my shoulder.

Anxiety🥵 + Hydroxyzine💊 = 🤗

I used to feel extreme shame for needing to take medication to calm my nerves. Now, I realize that the meds are simply a tool. They don't define me. I'm not "Anxious Brittany" but rather I'm Brittany, a human who HAS anxiety.

A diagnosis, a medication, a feeling are not identities (although we may find comfort in making them such at times), they are just parts of what make you who you are.

As the ladies from My Favorite Murder would say, "If you can't make your own, store bought is just fine."

I'm on Day 8 of having Covid; nearly made it two years without catching it but it found its way to me afterall! 🤦🏻‍♀️

Day 2 was the hardest: My chest hurt, my nose felt like a running faucet, my voice disappeared, my brain was foggy and my muscles were fatigued. At first, it was hard to tell the difference between my everyday experience with connective tissue disease vs covid. Have any other spoonies🥄 had this experience?

When I first tested positive I felt a sense of shame: 1) I followed the rules but still caught it, 2) Guilt over going to work every day instead of working from home prior to catching Covid and 3) having to take days off work to heal. It was a flurry of emotions and negative self-talk.

After having time off to rest, my body and mind are starting to feel better and I'm trying to show myself some kindness. If you are going through a similar internal conflict, just know that you are allowed to take time for your body to recover. You don't have to break quarantine early to appease a boss or social engagements. You don't have to apologize for catching this disease, we're all doing the best we can. ♥️

Small Talk. 🤢
It's an every day occurrence that many of us participate in but don't actually enjoy. Predictable conversations about the weather, traffic, saying you're fine when you're really broken up inside. These are all normal interactions but do they need to be? These moments of interacting with complete strangers, co-workers, or mere acquaintances are opportunities to collect stories about another human being.

Let's dive deeper. Let's learn more about one another. Let's truly connect. Now that we're crawling out of the pandemic I think we all deserve authentic conversations. Don't you? 💖

Words can not express the pain, the hurt, the anger, and the sadness that we feel towards what took place yesterday. Our democracy was tested, human rights threatened, all because of a white supremacist who currently holds office.

Do not let actions from the proud boys and pro-trumpers stop you from voting, standing up for what's right, and fighting for those who can not fight for themselves.

Black Lives Matter, LGTBQIA+ rights are human rights, a woman's body is her own, the chronically ill deserve affordable healthcare, and the list goes on.

January 20th is around the corner, and we know that will bring the change this country desperately needs.

Let's make positive change together.

Does the weather affect your chronic illness or mood? ☔

It's raining here in SoCal today and my fibro has decided to flare up at the same time. Maybe it's the change in temperature? 🌡️Change in air pressure? Not sure, but everytime it rains for an extended period of time, my body reacts this way. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I'd love to hear your own stories. I can't be the only one this happens to right? 😅
