Have you ever wondered what really causes diabetes? Or pre-diabetes?

If you think it’s simply overeating or obesity…think again.

It’s NOT about eating less and moving more, that old “recipe” often backfires by making you hungrier.

The faster route?
Step 1: Stop insulin-provoking foods.
Step 2: Prioritize foods that make you insulin-sensitive.
🥦🥬Fill up on high-fiber veggies, quality protein & healthy fats.
🍪🍧Save the carbs/sugars for after you’ve loaded the good stuff.

When you switch your goal from “lose weight” → “eat healthy”, the weight loss and metabolic repair become the by-product and reversing type 2 diabetes becomes possible.

When I started fasting 16–18 hours a day, everything changed for me.
Pairing that with my protocol was a total game changer: weight loss, A1C back to normal, acid reflux under control, and overall just feeling amazing.

The key? Fasting and eating within a specific window-giving your body time to burn fat efficiently. 🔥

🎃 Let’s Talk Halloween Candy, the not so spooky Way!

Halloween is here, and so is the candy bowl…let's be real, most of us will want candy!! But this week doesn’t have to throw off your groove or your goals!

Remember, it's not about perfection; it’s about rhythm, mindset, and giving your body what it needs most of the time.

Here’s the 80:20 rule in action:
🍎 80% of the time → fuel your body with real, nourishing foods that make you feel great.
🍫 20% of the time → enjoy life’s sweet moments .. and yes, that mini Snickers can fit! (But when you have it does matters.)

A few simple strategies for balance this week:
✅ Choose your favorites and skip the “meh” candy.
✅ Delay, don’t deny - if you're fasting, wait until your eating window opens to enjoy a treat.
✅ Have candy after a balanced meal to support stable blood sugar.
✅ Hydrate, move, and rest... your body will thank you.
✅ Don’t let one piece of candy derail your momentum. Just start fresh at your next meal.

You don’t need to detox, restrict, or feel guilty.
You just need to stay intentional and keep showing up for yourself.

Preparation is key 🔑

It’s going to be a very busy week for me, so Sundays are all about food prep. This week, I took the extra time to cut and chop everything in my fridge! Now all my veggies are ready to go, and I can build the perfect salad in just a few minutes.

I even opened up cans of chickpeas, olives, and artichokes, and transferred them into glass jars so it makes everything so much easier (and prettier in the fridge 💚)

Now, when things get hectic during the week, I can still make something fresh, healthy, and delicious in under five minutes.

Preparation really is the secret to staying consistent; whether it’s food, fitness, or work goals, setting yourself up ahead of time removes the stress and excuses later.

What happens if your insulin is always high? It can quietly wreak havoc on your body. It can lead to weight gain, intense cravings, fatigue, and eventually insulin resistance, which is a major risk factor for type 2 diabetes. Over time, it can also increase your risk of heart disease, PCOS, and other metabolic disorders. Keeping insulin balanced is key for energy, hormone health, and long-term wellness!

Change can happen for you just like it did for Lenny.🌟🌟

Back in April, he started actually listening to me (finally 😅) and began using the Feel Great System consistently. Now, we eat really healthy at home, he drinks the tea, and always has fiber before meals.

The best part? When we go out, he can still enjoy pretty much whatever he wants-because we stick to the basics: fiber first, intermittent fasting always.

It’s simple, it’s sustainable, and it works.
Since April, Lenny has lost almost 30 pounds… and added a beard! 🧔

🌟From Patty....

"I met Ilyse when I started following her after she adopted a cat from Beth Stern. That turned into following her nutrition advice journey…I have done several programs with Ilyse and agree she is the best coach.

I had tried intermittent fasting many times, with limited success… until I joined the Feel Great program! I learned I wasn’t fasting correctly in the past.

Since joining the program I feel better, have less aches and my plantar fasciitis has completely resolved! ( likely due to weight loss). I started the program in Feb and have lost 30 pounds.

I traveled for 2 weeks to Italy in June and just returned from Germany after a 2 week vacation… with no problems! I packed my Balance and Tea and tried to walk a lot since I enjoyed the wonderful food in both countries!"

Then this just came in....

"I just returned from my visit with my oncologist… I am a breast cancer survivor… And she said since she saw me a year ago, I have lost 50 pounds!!!"

I received beautiful messages this week from people I'm lucky enough to work with (and call my friends) each one reminding me exactly why I do what I do.

This isn't just a job for me. It's a calling. Helping others feel stronger, healthier, more confident, and more in control of their wellbeing. It lights me up.

My mission has always been to motivate, guide, and genuinely support others as they transform their relationship with health.
