Welcoming Our Spring Interns!

We’re excited to introduce the two counseling interns joining us this semester. As part of their clinical training, they are offering sessions at a reduced rate of $30 per session, creating a more accessible option for individuals seeking support.

We’re grateful to invest in the next generation of counselors while continuing to expand care within our community.

"Valentine’s Day is often marketed with an emphasis on gifts, but the heart of the holiday is about showing love and appreciation. Talk with your partner about the kinds of gestures that make you feel loved."

One of the biggest sources of stress around Valentine’s Day is unmet expectations. Here is a quick guide for you and your partner to thrive.

A few weeks ago, Megan had the opportunity to travel to Simla, Colorado to spend time with an incredible group of K–12 educators committed to supporting students through a trauma-informed lens. 🤍

During this in-service training, teachers received the first two modules of the Trust-Based Relational Intervention® (TBRI®) Caregiver Package 2.0, along with practical tools for trauma-informed classrooms, SEL support, and realistic self-care strategies for burned-out caregivers.

It was a meaningful reminder that when we invest in the well-being and capacity of educators, we strengthen the rhythms of entire classrooms, schools, and communities.

If your school, organization, or team is interested in training, consultation, or additional resources, we’d love to connect. Reach out to us to learn more about how an NRTC counselor can support your staff.

Please note: TBRI® Practitioners have permission to provide trainings within their organization and are required to receive additional permission from the Karyn Purvis Institute of Childhood Development to provide these trainings outside of their organization. Megan received the required permissions.

We’re excited to officially welcome Kelsie Goller to the NRTC team. Kelsie has been with us for a few months now, her presence has already been a meaningful addition to our clinical community.

Kelsie brings extensive training, a strong clinical foundation, and a thoughtful, trauma-responsive approach to her work with clients. Her depth of knowledge, professionalism, and care for the therapeutic process reflect the values we hold deeply at NRTC.

We’re grateful for the steadiness and insight she brings—and truly excited to have her as part of our team.

Healing doesn’t move in a straight line.

You can have insight AND struggle.
Relief AND grief.
Hope AND exhaustion.

Therapy doesn’t erase hard things—it helps you build the capacity to move through them with support.
You don’t have to rush the work.
You’re allowed to move at your own pace.

Remember...healing is built in rhythms, not resolutions.

In therapy, progress doesn’t always announce itself.

Progress might look like:
• Pausing before reacting
• Naming a feeling instead of avoiding it
• Setting a boundary you couldn’t before
• Feeling uncomfortable—and staying present anyway

Not all progress is loud or visible.
Sometimes it’s simply showing up again. Because healing is built in rhythms, not resolutions.

Therapy often looks different than we imagine at the start.

Therapy isn’t:
❌ Constant breakthroughs
❌ Instant relief
❌ A place where everything feels better right away

Therapy is:
✔️ A space to tell the truth
✔️ A place to build awareness and skills
✔️ A relationship that supports change over time

Growth often looks slower—and more human—than we expect. Because healing is built in rhythms, not resolutions.

Therapy isn’t meant to work quickly—it’s meant to work deeply. It’s a process of noticing, practicing, unlearning, and trying again.

Some sessions feel clarifying.
Some feel heavy.
Some feel quiet or even frustrating.
All of that can still be progress.

At New Rhythms, we honor the full rhythm of healing—not just the highlights. Because healing is built in rhythms, not resolutions.
