This is one of my favorite teachings from A Course in Miracles. This simple sentence reminds us we have the power within us to transform our entire experience of the world.
To unveil the miracle that is always there, we simply need to activate the light within us.
We often treat darkness—fear, anger, or sadness—as something we must fight, resist, or shove down. But to get rid of darkness, you don’t battle it. You simply turn on the light. You acknowledge the darkness and choose to see things differently.
The light switch isn’t in an action, it’s a release. It’s a decision to soften.
✨We soften our attachment to how things should be.
We release the story we’ve been holding onto, our expectations and desire to control others. When we do, we allow for a path inspired by a higher wisdom to unfold.
✨We soften our perspective on the person who wronged us.
Instead of seeing a villain, we ask to see their pain, their fear, their own call for love. The light reveals that their actions, even if hurtful, came from their own darkness, not from an attack on our soul.
✨We soften our view of the situation that scares us.
Instead of seeing a challenge, we ask to see the blessing in it. What is this here to teach me? Where is the opportunity for growth, for strength, for a greater opening to love?
✨We soften our belief in the limitation we think is real.
Instead of seeing an impassable wall, we ask to see the door hidden within it and realize we hold the key. The light shows us that what we perceive as a road block is often a divine redirection.
✨Prayer is the key to accessing the light.
“I pray to see this differently. I’m willing to acknowledge the love that is in this situation and to let the rest go.”
Miracles are often quiet, internal shifts in perception that happen through us when we choose to soften. The miracle is the moment of peace that replaces anxiety, the feeling of compassion that dissolves anger, the spark of hope that illuminates a dark path.
They are all around you, in every situation and every relationship, simply waiting to be seen.
