Champion of Land Rights & Chicano History
Who was he?
Reies López Tijerina (1926–2015) was a Chicano civil rights leader and land-grant activist who fought for the restoration of Mexican and Indigenous lands promised under the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo (1848).
Why he matters
Founder of the Alianza Federal de Mercedes
Raised national awareness about land theft and broken treaties
Key figure in the Chicano Movement of the 1960s
Advocated for self-determination, cultural dignity, and justice
His message
Land, history, and identity matter. Justice begins with honoring treaties and educating future generations.
Legacy
His work continues to influence movements for land rights, Indigenous sovereignty, and social justice across the Southwest.

Celebrated on January 6th, this special day honors the story of the Three Wise Men who followed the star to bring gifts of love and hope. the Three Wise Men—Melchor, Gaspar, and Baltasar—who followed a bright star to visit baby Jesus. They brought him special gifts to show love, respect, and gratitude.Families celebrate with joy, sharing, and time together—reminding us of the importance of kindness, generosity, and caring for one another.
We wish all our families a day filled with happiness, warmth, and special moments. 💛
