started out as a passion project โค๏ธ for the both of us in the midst of last year's COVID pandemic. We were road-tripping through Yellowstone ๐ talking about the skin issues was experiencing as a result of the โ๏ธ hot, dry climates through our western national parks.
โ
started talking about natural homeopathic solutions for dry skin, preventive methods for eczema break-outs, and hydrating plant-based skin serums that might alleviate some of the dry inflammation that was turning into scaly reptile ๐ฆ. After passionately fueling each other of new ideas, new plants ๐ฟ to try, new serums to find, and foods ๐ฎ to avoid, Age Like an Asian โwas born.
โ
โOur initial intent was to create and develop a new product line from Asian-derived ingredients ๐ฐ๐ท that our Mothers always integrated into our diet and skin care -- we wanted to stay true to our passion -- to keep it simple, natural, and deliver a collection to our community that people could easily access, educate ourselves from, all while staying conscious of limiting consumer waste โป๏ธ. We spent 6 months deep in research & development talking to various manufacturers, raw material suppliers, packaging companies, and chemists.
โ
โHeart-broken, we finally had to come to the conclusion that the beauty industry lacks transparency and unless we had millions of dollars ๐ฐ๐ฐ๐ฐ to burn through, it was impossible for us to stay true to our ethos -- to bring a natural, clean product line to market, created from organic raw materials sourced from farms that practiced fair trade labor laws, and delivered to you in recycled, sustainable packaging ๐๐ข๐ญ.
โ
And here we are, almost a year after we've launched our passion project -- at a standstill because we refuse to compromise what we initially started. But we've learned so much along the way -- both about the beauty industry ๐, ourselves ๐ญ, and what our friendship is capable of enduring โค๏ธ.
โ
โSo what's next? We're not sure... ๐ค but we do love hanging out together and making home-remedies to try on ourselves. And we'd love to hear from you -- what have you loved, hated, how could we pivot? ๐โโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ
