Reiki derives from the belief that every living being emits an energy field, a belief supported by multiple scientific studies on resonance and frequency. When we as human beings experience dis-ease, that energy field becomes imbalanced. Reiki allows us to right that imbalance and heal energy fields by transmitting Universal Energy, or Ki Energy, through the palms of our hands. This method is otherwise known as a hands-on-healing technique or palm healing technique. The concept of universal energy can be found throughout both ancient and modern cultures. It is Chi in China, Prana in Hindu India, Mana in Hawaii, Ruah in Hebrew, Vitality in Western Philosophy, and even The Force in popular culture. The goal of Reiki is to keep energy flowing throughout the mind, body and spirit in order to achieve perfect harmony. Studies have shown that Reiki can reduce stress, lower blood pressure, relieve insomnia, and accelerate the body’s natural healing processes. Consequently, a Reiki practice can be beneficial for those who have suffered physical injury or illness, are recovering from surgery, or experiencing psychological imbalances or emotional pain. Hi everyone! If you know me at all, you know I rarely ever do a public shout out for a production. But I am doing one now because I need to emphatically say that EVERYONE should go see this show. The direction, staging, costume design, and the acting were nothing short of brilliant. (Huge shout out to Fran de Leon as this will be her last performance before she leaves to Theatre MU)

Putting on my Mythology and Depth Psychology cap, Mariology explores the Virgin Mary as an archetype whose symbolism has shaped and constrained the inner lives of girls, women, and marginalized identities. The play reveals how her image, instead of opening space for the sacred feminine, has often been used to measure worth through enforced purity, demand obedience, and justify structures of power. It shows how Mary’s symbol has been reshaped into an instrument of colonization, whitening and flattening her complexity, even replacing Indigenous goddesses to support conquest. In mythological and depth psychological terms, the production exposes how a figure meant to offer comfort can become a shadow symbol that restricts agency and compresses the soul’s ability to express its fullness.

After many months of reflection, revision, and searching for the exact language my soul wanted to speak, I finally finished an essay that has become a true labor of love.

Reiki Through Myth and Depth Psychology is now live on my website.

This piece brings together the three worlds that have shaped my life: mythology, depth psychology, and Reiki. It explores how these traditions speak in different dialects of the same spiritual truth, and how they illuminate the inner journey toward wholeness.

When people come to Reiki or Sekhem-Krem they either have some experience with alternative energy healing or no experience at all. Whatever your level of experience may be, Reiki and Sekhem-Khrem is an extremely non-invasive practice with noticeable positive effects on stress, health, and energy.
