*The God of Abraham is Not Your God*
- By Emmanuel Onyebuchi Ngoka
Many cry out to “the God of Abraham” hoping to inherit Abraham’s blessings. But Abraham did not just call on God—he walked with God. His obedience, sacrifices, and faith carved the path that birthed his covenant.
The phrase “God of Abraham” is not a shortcut to blessing—it is a title rooted in Abraham’s personal encounter. Every name of God comes from a lived experience:
A person walking with God.
A culture, with its language and expressions.
A location and a season in time.
Jehovah Jireh (Provider) was Abraham’s revelation in Moriah. El Roi (The God who sees me) was Hagar’s testimony in the desert. Each name was not borrowed—it was born out of relationship and reality.
When you cling only to Abraham’s God without discovering your own, you are stepping outside of your covenant and leaning on another man’s testimony. That is spiritual irresponsibility.
Instead, you are called to color your God. In your own culture, in your own tongue, in your own struggles and victories—discover God for yourself. Build your covenant. Walk your journey. Let your obedience and faith draw down your blessings.
Then you too can declare, “My God,” not because Abraham knew Him, but because you have met Him in your own life.
