OUR HISTORY: In 2010, Sara Bear and Bounty Girl came to Venice, CA with their Mom and Dad to escape from the cold, blustery winters of Boston. Sara Bear, however, was not always a fan of the ocean. But when she arrived in Venice, after a 2 week trek across the country, she got out of the van, held her head high, turned her nose up, and followed the smell of the ocean. She set her paws on the sandy beach and never wanted to leave. She has finally found her home! Bounty and Sara have always had special dietary needs. Bounty suffers severely from food allergies (corn, peanut butter, egg, barley, etc.). Then last year, the vet discovered that Sara gained a lot of weight because of thyroid related problems. Her protein intake needed to be minimized. Months later it was found that she also suffered from Cushing's disease. To help meet the girls' dietary needs and maintain their health, Sara and Bounty's Mom decided it was time to make healthy and tasty dog treats using natural ingredients. The girls loved the treats and just couldn't wait to devour them. Pretty soon Sara and Bounty were sharing their treats with the neighborhood dogs. Not too long after that the neighborhood dog "parents" started requesting to buy the treats. So this is how Hungry Dawgz of Dogtown came to life :-)

Hungry Dawgz Organic and Natural Treats are human grade treats for your four-legged best friends. They are made fresh locally (gluten free, lactose free, wheat free) and are inspired by two beautiful and sweet sisters and best friends, Sara Bear and Bounty Girl, local and loyal residents of Dogtown!

Meet Odin the fearless livestock guardian who chose duty over safety.

In the fall of 2017, California’s Tubbs Fire tore through the North Bay, consuming everything in its path. As flames closed in, evacuation orders went out, and chaos followed. But amidst the panic, one brave soul refused to leave.

Odin, a majestic Great Pyrenees, had one mission: protect his herd. When his family rushed to evacuate, Odin stood his ground. He wouldn’t abandon the eight goats he was born to guard not even in the face of a deadly wildfire. His owner, Roland Hendel, was forced to flee without him, heartbroken and fearing the worst.

But Odin wasn’t giving up. As the firestorm raged through the night, he guided the goats to a rocky outcrop a spot he somehow sensed was safer. He huddled with them, stood guard, and weathered the inferno, refusing to back down.

Days later, when the family returned to the smoldering ruins of their property, they expected the worst. Instead, Odin limped out of the smoke, singed and injured… but alive. And trailing behind him? All eight goats unharmed. As if that weren’t enough, Odin had also sheltered several baby deer that had joined the herd during the chaos.

Odin’s story is one of loyalty, instinct, and extraordinary courage. A true guardian in every sense of the word, he lived up to the legacy of his breed risking everything to protect those who depended on him.

In a moment when many would have run, Odin stayed and in doing so, became an enduring symbol of selfless love, resilience, and the quiet heroism of animals who never stop caring.
