There are a lot of people saying they “rescued” reptiles when that’s *not* actually the case. Although their hearts are often in the right place, going to Facebook or educators to ask for basic care advice *after* “saving” a reptile from poor care isn’t rescue- it’s only continuing their suffering. If you aren’t prepared to take BETTER care of the animal than the person before, you’re not the solution, you’re part of the problem. By all means, if you have the capacity to help a reptile in need, do it, but not before you understand the requirements or have the time and money for supplies and vet care to help the animal truly thrive!
Do the work first, THEN get the animal, or leave it up to the professionals: Rescue organizations like , , , , and so many others work SO hard to save reptiles by getting them the appropriate veterinary care and finding forever homes.
