TW: This clip includes mentions of “conversion therapy,” which may be triggering for some.

LGBTQ+ audiences are resonating with a powerful moment from the TV court show Equal Justice, where calls out a homophobic father attempting to charge his son for so-called “conversion therapy”—a harmful, discredited practice. “You are valuable, and Michael, you are perfect,” she says, offering affirmation and support.

A reminder to stay true to exactly who you are.

One year ago, the tore through our city, forever changing lives and leaving deep, lasting loss. Today, we pause to honor those we lost—including the 31 people who died—and to hold the grief, trauma, and displacement that so many continue to carry.

In the midst of crisis, care rose to meet the moment. From firefighters and first responders, to neighbors, mutual aid groups, and volunteers who showed up with time, resources, and love, Angelenos reminded us that community is our greatest protection.

As Los Angeles continues to heal and rebuild, we remain rooted in care—for one another, for our most vulnerable, and for the city we call home.
