Starting my new role as Associate Director for the Center for Arts and Humanities in Medicine at ! I have big goals to bring more creative projects and enriching programs to our staff and patients. Time to get to work!

My first picture of her was my favorite. The runt of the litter with a bum eye and a chronic virus, she was a very timid soul who made you earn her trust.

I had arrived at the Baltimore SPCA's kitten adoption day in 2010 to find she was the only one left. A few disappointed families milled about, and I watched some approach her cage and swiftly turn around. I knew no one would want her. I asked if I could see her and so they opened her cage and put this dark, tiny floof in my arms. I instantly melted as I felt her begin to purr and knew she was mine. I called her Sina, part of an Egyptian phrase meaning "good enough".
I wasn't sure how long she would survive with her many health issues, but as a new resident headed toward palliative care I just wanted to love her for as long as she had. I hoped for 5 years. Before I knew it, I'd had her for 10. Never did I think I'd spend 15 years with my scruffy little wackadoo.
Today, she let me know that she was ready to go and I had to listen. Thank you to everyone who took care of her when I was away and who had the patience to let her a little bit into your heart ❤️
