Founded in Mexico City in 2009, the company has produced several award-winning short films through the parent Company Monofilms, most notably “The No-Man” which won the Sterpaia prize in the Universo Corto International Film Festival (Pisa, Italy), was an official selection at several other prestigious festivals and was nominated for a Mexican Academy Award. Also notable amongst its short film slate is “Invisible Borders” which won best short at Contra El Silencio, was an official selection at several other prestigious festivals and was pre-nominated for a Mexican Academy Award. Monofilms’ most recent short was “Damned Tijuana” which was screened at the prestigious Soumaya Museum, got an article by notable sociologist Karla Paniagua PhD and was an official selection at several other prestigious festivals including the Bangkok Film Fest as well as shortlisted for Clermont Ferrand. In 2013 the company expanded to Los Angeles under the Off-Hollywood banner and produced it's first feature “The Last Kiliwas”, which earned support from the Smithsonian Institute and UNESCO as well as funding from the Mexican Film Institute, the Mexican Anthropology and History Institute as well as DocsDF Film Festival. During development, the project participated in the two most notable festival project incubators in Mexico: The Guadalajara Film Festival co-production market and the Morelia Lab. It was also a finalist for the EICTV Ser Humano project incubator in Cuba and Channel 22’s funding contest. Under its advertising side, Monofilms produced commercial work for Pepsi, Nextel, Solen, and more. It has also amassed 7 years of film equipment rental and brokering experience as well as a highly-specialized boutique equipment collection. The company's growth has allowed it to start co-producing and supporting films and projects, most notably "The Healing Tree" (Festival de Cannes Short Films Corner 2016), "The Kings of Nowhere" (SXSW, Berlin International Film Festival, MoMA, Cinema Eye Honors, Cinema Tropical, Morelia International Film Festival 2015-2016), "Robertson Street" (IDFA Fund 2016) and "Mente Revolver" (IMCINE Fund, CUEC-UNAM Opera Prima program winner 2015).
