Wilderness: A Documentary Theatre Project

Wilderness: A Documentary Theatre Project En Garde Arts' state-of-the-nation theatre project and online forum about navigating the wilderness of emotions that separates young adults and parents.

WILDERNESS - En Garde Arts’ upcoming documentary theatre project - is a multimedia play that uses the setting of an experiential wilderness therapy program to explore the disenfranchisement of youth in 21st Century America and the extreme measures taken by some families to overcome the emotional and behavioral obstacles that force them apart. The show will premiere at the Abrons Arts Center in New York in the fall of 2016, running from Oct 19 - Nov 13, and tour nationally in 2017. En Garde Arts is using this Wilderness page to further explore the themes of our play. To this end, we will be posting interesting articles about growing up, mental health and parenting. We'll also be sharing video snippets from interviews with the subjects of our show as a way of both giving a sneak peek into the play as it develops and encouraging more people to come out with their stories of survival, perseverance and growth in the face of difficult family circumstances.
