The top countries for healthy aging place great emphasis on physical activity, with walkable communities, support for bicyclists, and a strong sports culture that encourages participation.

But you can make an effort to stay active wherever you live. Experts recommend focusing on three areas when it comes to movement and exercise:

Cardiovascular (running, cycling, or dancing)

Strength (resistance or weight training)

Balance (yoga, pilates, Tai Chi)

Even simple steps can make a difference. For instance, you can pledge to walk a mile a day, find resistance workouts you enjoy, or spend a few minutes standing on one foot to gradually improve your balance and prevent falls. Gradually boosting your fitness levels can make a difference in your healthspan, or the number of years that you live in good health, free of chronic diseases. Healthy aging can also reduce insurance costs, making later years more manageable financially, too. JUST MOVE!

I GOT A HUG from a long-lime friend and ended up with a bruised rib. We both heard it crack and went out to dinner. Glad it is not broken as I had a serries of X-Rays to prove it. But, certain yoga poses really hurt. So I avoid them. Deep breathing is good.
So many of my students are skiiers and surfers, so they have experienced broken or bruised ribs. Rest is good. And certain yoga poses are fine. I am listening to my Orthopedic Surgeon and now I know what poses to avoid for a few weeks. and

Learn the difference between bruised versus broken ribs, as well as how different rib injuries are diagnosed and treated.
