The Lifeline and 988
988 has been designated as the new three-digit dialing code that will route callers to the National Su***de Prevention Lifeline. While some areas may be currently able to connect to the Lifeline by dialing 988, this dialing code will be available to everyone across the United States starting on July 16, 2022.

We can all help prevent su***de. The Lifeline provides 24/7, free and confidential support for people in distress, prevention and crisis resources for you or your loved ones, and best practices for professionals in the United States.

FYI for emergencies: Call from landline or to dial 911 operators through the direct number from cell phones- For example in Los Angeles County 911 direct # 213-928-8206. (The direct number is quicker from a cell phone. If you don’t know 911’s direct number in your local area, it’s important to get that information and have it in your cell phone.)
