Strides in Recovery is a Los Angeles based nonprofit which brings the healing power of goal-oriented group running/walking to clients in addiction treatment programs. As a volunteer coach of a residential addicition recovery program's LA Marathon team, I have the honor and privilege of helping people experience the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritutal rewards of training for a major endurance event, while turning their lives around. Inspired by the many success stories, I started Strides in Recovery to help others in the recovery community harness the power of running for maintaining their sobriety.

When you donate shoes to Strides, they’re re-homed and become an opportunity—another step forward for someone putting in the work on their recovery journey. ✨

For years, Duffy has shown up in a big way, collecting batches of shoes and hand-delivering them to Leslie, just like you see here. Thank you Duffy, Fleet Feet, and Run and With us Pasadena for coming together to make this happen. ✨ 👟 🏃🏽‍♀️

If you’ve ever donated shoes—directly or through a friend—thank you for going the extra mile with us.💚 Supporting sobriety one stride at a time.

Our Story

At Strides in Recovery, we believe that training toward a challenging goal with the support of a community is a metaphor for recovery, and for life.

Inspired by the many success stories she heard while coaching a Los Angeles Marathon Team comprised of clients, alumni, and supporters of a residential addiction treatment facility, Beit T’Shuvah, Leslie Gold started Strides in Recovery in order to bring the same life changing experiences to other recovery communities.

Strides in Recovery teams welcome everyone, regardless of level of fitness or prior athletic experience. Teams are open to anyone who wants to make a difference, for their own recovery or for others who are working hard to overcome substance use disorders. We are supportive, non-competitive communities, training together to enjoy the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual benefits of running. We prove to ourselves that we can achieve whatever we set our minds to; we celebrate successes along the way; we become part of something bigger than ourselves.

Addiction is a disease that destroys lives. You can be part of the solution. Come join us!
