I started Dying Laughing after losing both of my parents as a way to share what I learned about grief. When my dad died, a part of me died with him. I had to find new ways to remember and honor the impact he made on my life. I remember him as being a vulnerable ex-husband to my mother, my favorite horror movie co-pilot, and someone who squeezed the joy out of everyday. There’s a rebirth for the self that happens in death. Grief can set you free if you allow it. When I’m missing him, I replay memories of us that play out like movies in my psyche. If we’re lucky, we will all end up a memory for someone who loved us. And for the record, he was the funny one. If you’ve lost someone who meant something to you, I hope my podcast helps you navigate through your grief. xx Jessimae
