Gentle reminder to myself (and maybe you):
Taking care of others doesn’t replace taking care of yourself.
Slowing down isn’t just good advice — it’s necessary.

Contrary to popular belief… we do clock out 😅

Boundaries. We love them.

Good Read Wednesday:

In honor of Black History Month, I’m sharing a book that has sparked important conversations around race, systemic inequality, and accountability:
Why I’m No Longer Talking to White People About Race by Reni Eddo-Lodge.

While I haven’t read this one personally yet, it’s a frequently recommended resource for those wanting to better understand the historical and structural context of racism — particularly in Western systems. I’ll be reading it this month as part of my own ongoing learning.

Ongoing education matters. Listening matters.

If you’ve read it, I’d love to hear your reflections.

Parenting questions don’t wait for office hours - and now support doesn’t have to either.

I’m excited to share that I’m now offering Parente, an evidence-based AI parenting assistant (Pat) I can integrate into my work with families.

Parente gives parents 24/7 access to research-backed guidance for real-life parenting challenges, including behavior struggles, anxiety, ADHD, screen time, and more. It’s like have a pocket Alison with you whenever you need.

It’s designed to support you between sessions and in those moments when you’re not sure what to do next.

If you’re a parent looking for thoughtful, practical support that’s grounded in science (and not judgment), this may be a great fit 💛

Therapist on the outside: calm, grounded, present.
Therapist brain on the inside: immediate playlist activation 🎶

Please tell me I’m not alone. Does your brain do this too?

A heads-up that my practice will be out of the office starting today through January 6th.

During this time, I’ll be stepping away to rest and recharge, and will respond to messages when I return.
If you’re a current client, please refer to the newsletter with resources if needed while I’m away. If you’re a new client, I will return your message when I’m back in the office after the holidays.

Wishing you a calm, relaxing holiday season. Be gentle with yourself. 💙

Perfection often keeps our nervous system in a state of survival and pressure.
“Good enough” creates room for relief, flexibility, and follow-through.

Try this today:
• Send the message without rereading it five times
• Do the task at 70% instead of 100%
• Choose rest over rewriting the list

Progress happens when pressure softens.

My Story

I believe it is essential that you connect and feel comfortable with your therapist in order for therapy to work. This is why I believe consultations are so important. For first-time clients I offer a free 15 minutes consultation. Feel free to call at 408-596-4701 if you are interested in coming in. If you are still undecided after we talk on the phone, we can always meet for one session at my rate, and you can decide if you are feeling like it is a good fit to continue forward. My services are personalized to suit each client's unique needs, as there is no “one size fits all” approach. While I would love to tell you I have a miracle button in my office, it is essential to keep in mind that therapy is not a magic button or a quick fix: therapy is a healing process that necessitates participation and investment from the client and therapist together.

If you want more details about my experience and approach, or more information about my practice, please visit my website at www.alisonsilviuslmft.net. You can also email me at info@alisonsilviuslmft.com.
