And we're off…!!

Sixteen of us started our 21 day journey. Although we all have different goals, personalities, schedules and live in different areas of the country, we all want to live life to the fullest, feel amazing and live longer with vitality.

Here is WHY!!!

You ARE what you eat.

FOOD has a direct impact on us:

Mental health 🧘🏽‍♀️: Specific nutrients, such as antioxidants in fruits and veggies and omega-3s in seeds, nuts and algae, support your mental well-being.

Energy levels 😃: Your body breaks down foods for fuel. Intuitive eating, balanced meals and healthy snacks help you have steady energy throughout the day and boost metabolism.

Brain function🧠: Foods rich in antioxidants, omega-3 fatty acids, and other nutrients, support cognitive function.

Digestion🥬🥭: Fiber-rich foods (e.g., fruits, veggies, whole grains) aid digestion and help prevent GI issues like constipation and diarrhea. Fermented foods are rich in probiotics and promote a healthy gut.

Weight⚖️: A balanced diet helps support a healthy weight (also supports your overall health). So do NEAT activities.

Immune function💪🏽: A daily practice of gratitude and self care combined with a well-balanced colorful plate of fruits and veggies are essential to boosting your body’s immunity.

Heart health♥️: A diet rich in fruits, veggies, whole grains, lean proteins (tofu, chickpeas and lentils) and omega-3 fatty acids supports heart health. A high intake of saturated fats, cholesterol, and sodium can contribute to heart disease.

Bone strength🦴: Calcium, vitamin D (sunlight or vitamin D supplement), and magnesium are essential. A diet lacking these nutrients can increase the risk of osteoporosis and bone fractures.

Skin💃🏽: Nutrients like vitamins A, C, E, biotin, and zinc contribute to glowing skin. Antioxidants from fruits and veggies support your skin health.Whew!

Some gratitude this morning:
I am grateful for how I manage the holidays with more mindfulness and ease. They can be stressful when it's time to relax, right?

When I was younger, I used to overindulge during the holidays. Lots of sweets and overeating because I was "celebrating." And I saw its effects in my health. Acne, rashes, inflammation..the works. When I made the connection that you are what you eat, I changed my eating habits. And it literally changed my life.

Now I am more mindful of what I am eating, and just as IMPORTANT, how I managed stress! Wheeww, stress can give you a good kick! Stress of life and work got to me as I got older even when I was eating right. There was a point in my life where eating became associated with extreme discomfort and bloating. I use to walk around bent over from severe stomach pain or discomfort. Every thing I ate caused me anguish--even drinking water. 😣. Now I no longer feel this pain

How the heck did I get rid of this pain? More soon.

A few years ago, I found myself stuck overseas with an indefinite return date and an email stating that I no longer had my teaching job. I faced pure panic mode. I no longer would have a paycheck coming in and I could not request government assistance. You cannot collect unemployment overseas. It was the first time in my life I realized that I did not have a plan B. No additional stream of income coming in or an emergency savings fund.

At that moment I felt hopeless and awfully uncertain about the future. Actually I was terrified. I like being in control of my life and this showed me that I never truly was.

Then it was as if the Universe heard my call. An email popped into my inbox that said: Work From Anywhere. The email was from a woman (at the time I didn’t know she was a nutritionist) who I had briefly met and spoke with at her wellness booth during a festival. I had gotten her emails before but those three words were enough for me to reach out to her and learn more.

I am so grateful that I did.

The opportunity that I now have gives me purpose and aligns with my passions. True health and wealth, workplace flexibility and stability, an overwhelmingly welcoming and positive community driven toward the same goal: to transform healthcare from sick care to well care. A generation of people not defined by age, educational skill or experience, or location. A generation of health and wealth seekers.

First day back to school! If you know me, you know that I am lower school science teacher and middle school Maker teacher by day.

And I am a small business owner of TWO by night! From science to nutrition to spices, I have surrounded myself with my passions.

The love of learning, kids and all of their magnetic curiosity, food and Sri Lankan spices and natural nutrition and holistic lifestyle management. I have found my happy place. 🥰
