Your contraction timer can’t tell you much — but your doula can 💕

Timing is helpful, but it’s only one piece of the puzzle.

When we’re supporting a mom in labor, we’re watching for so much more than just minutes and seconds on a screen.

Here’s what we’re paying attention to 👇
💨 The sounds you’re making — from talking through contractions to moaning or humming through them
🧐The clear changes and shifts of intensity level - how you’re responding to the contractions and pain (you can only see this when you’re with a mom continuously from the start)
👣 How your body moves — rising on your toes or sinking closer to the floor
🤍 The shift from rocking back and forth to swaying side to side
💜 The purple line appearing as baby descends
🌀 The Rhombus of Michaelis forming in the lower back
🕒 The pattern and consistency of contractions
💕 And of course, your instincts and voice. If you say your baby is coming right now, we listen - and we make sure everyone listens too!! You’re probably right 💪🏼

Your doula puts all of these clues together — plus your medical history, values, and birth preferences — to help you determine when it’s truly time to go in.

So you arrive calm, confident, and ready.
