My goodness has it been a crazy last 6 weeks! To give an update on what has been happening with the Rhome birth center….

We completed demo on the property and had started converting it into a birth center when we discovered that the entities involved in sale of the property to us (title company, realtors and seller) failed to disclose to us that there were deed restrictions on the property. These restrictions prohibit any commercial use of the property, and even though a birth center is made to look and function like a house, it is technically a commercial business, and therefore we are not able to move forward with our birth center project in Rhome at this time.

As disappointed as Patricia Gross and I were in the moment about this hiccup, this is no way changes the plan that God has for us and we have NO DOUBTS as to His faithfulness that He WILL make a way for another birth center in the near future. So in the meantime while we continue looking for the perfect property to open a birth center in the Wise County/Decatur area, we will be offering home birth services in Wise, Parker and Denton counties (with the possibility of changing to a birth center birth if available before your due date). What a cute Valentine's Day idea!

I recently got the loveliest text (this photo) inviting me to walk beside this beautiful family (for the 4th time). Of course my answer was YES! What an honor to be invited and trusted to guide and support during such sacred times. I love what I do so much!!

Sweet baby Ivy and her mom have graduated from care with me, and it is always sad for me to say goodbye. This mom was such a sweet client and she went out of her way to write me a wonderful review, a beautiful lovely card and to gift me with an “Ivy” plant and some gift cards that I can use for my new birth center. Clients like these are the ones that make my job so fulfilling and make me so grateful for what I do.

With everyone locked in their frozen homes for several days, and some without electricity and heat, I'm thinking that midwives across the country will be pretty busy in about 9 months from now.....we look forward to your call in a few weeks when you get that positive pregnancy test! 😁😆🤰🥰
