Looking for an intense, fat burning workout to try for the summer? Try EDT (Escalating Density Training). Here’s a quick summary: Take two exercises (preferably compound, like squats, deadlifts, pullups and dips), and take your ten-rep max (or if your seeking strength, your six-rep max). Now, take that in half and do as many sets of 5 reps as you can do back-to-back in twenty minutes. Set a timer on your phone. If you get to the point where you can’t do 5 reps, drop down to 4 or 3 even 1 or 2 as fatigue sets in. Go back-to-back with each exercise for the set time limit, resting as little as possible. Record your reps. Now, next time you do it, try to beat that. As your body gets conditioned to getting more reps in the set time, your conditioning will increase as well as your metabolism. The best part is you can try whatever combination of exercises and reps as you want. Just have your bodyweight, no weight room. Test out your max for pushups and bodyweight squats then cut that in half. Now do as many sets of half your max as possible in 20 minutes. Try this every other day (you will be sore, but you will adapt) and beat your reps at every workout. Eat nothing but proteins and green vegetables and watch the fat melt off!
