🏡 Keep Your Home Safe This Winter: Fire & CO Prevention Tips 🚨

The temperatures are starting to drop!

❄️ The City of Lynn Office of Emergency Management (OEM) wants to remind everyone to take essential precautions as you begin heating your home. Preventing home fires and deadly carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning starts with preparation.

Here are three crucial steps:

1. Test Your Alarms: Install and routinely test your smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors. Ensure they have fresh battery backups. CO is an odorless, colorless gas—an alarm is your only defense!

2. Maintain Distance: Keep anything that can burn (e.g., furniture, curtains, rags) at least 3 feet away from heating equipment like furnaces, fireplaces, wood stoves, or space heaters.

3. Use Safely: Never use an oven to heat your home, and never bring grills or generators indoors.

Stay safe and warm, Lynn!
