I am passionate about helping Metro Detroit mothers during the most amazing and often trying times of their lives. As a Lactation Educator and Postpartum Doula, I offer evidence-based information and support, emotional support and practical support. Postpartum Doula
I provide postpartum education and support for mom, baby and the whole family. I help with newborn care, learning hunger cues, breast/bottle feeding and light house work. This means more sleep for mom. I am available for day shifts and overnights. Lactation Educator
Successful nursing starts with support. I provide one-on-one, results-based lactation support and education. I consult with compassion, care and attention to each mother's individual needs.

Ideal ni**le vs non-ideal ni**le shape when offering a bottle to breastfed babies! Breastfed babies most easily latch deeply on a ni**le that have a wider base with a gentle slope down, versus an abrupt widening to the base.

Having the wrong fl**ge size can affect milk supply, cause ni**le pain and damage, and can even lead to clogged milk ducts & mastitis. This is why having the correct sized fl**ge is crucial in you feeding journey. It's also key for allowing adequate pump suction and milk removal.

Post-pregnancy body changes are normal. Despite societal pressure for a quick "bounce back," it's crucial to understand that body and breast changes are natural during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Recovery takes time, but good news, research found that there's no correlation between breastfeeding and breast sagging!👏

Don't wash it off! Vernix is a white, creamy, naturally occurring biofilm. It coats on the neonatal skin, protects the newborn skin, and facilitates extra-uterine adaptation of skin in the first postnatal week if not washed away after birth. This is why I recommend delaying the bath for as long as you can postpartum. 😇

As a Doula, I'll never replace your voice or your partners. I only offer advice, knowledge, and help advocate when asked. After all, it's your birth! I'll be as hands on, or hands off as you want. About 70% of moms get morning sickness. Despite its name, the nausea and vomiting of morning sickness can happen at any time of day😭

Here are some of the most popular foods to help manage nausea:

-Bland foods like crackers, toast, pretzels or applesauce.

-Fruit smoothies and yogurt.

-Water or tea (watch the caffeine levels in tea).

-Fruits and veggies like watermelon, celery or bell peppers that are high in water.

Ahhh tis the season for unnecessary inductions. Did you know some doctors schedule inductions simply because they don't want to work on a holiday?! Always ask if it's medically necessary.

Side note: Inductions can be life saving and necessary at times, it's just always best to be well informed and know the pros & cons of speeding up labor.

What's comfortable for one person might not be comfortable for you. KIKO(knees in, calves out) squatting and side-lying are all popular/comfortable positions. However, your body intuitively chooses the best position to be in on a subconscious level.

By forcing different positions because you may have heard they are "ideal for giving birth" is overriding your body's innate wisdom.

Your body knows how to give birth and which position feels the most natural for you and your baby.

It's hard for a first time mom to differentiate the feelings of varying stages of labor. As your Doula, I'm here to offer instructions on when to go to the hospital or birth center, but usually once you have regular, painful contractions (lasting about 60 seconds each) every four to five minutes for an hour or more, it's time to grab your hospital bag and head out!

The hospital can be a convenient/lifesaving place of birth! However, where you choose to give birth, and your birthing team plays a huge role in your birthing experience.
