I specialize in perimenopausal women and fully understand the shift that comes as hormones begin to fluctuate and EVERYTHING that once worked, no longer does😕.

Nutrition is your first key in tackling these issues as well as checking with your doctor to find out if you have any more typical issue that seems to happen around this time- thyroid issues, iron deficiency, low vit D and B etc.

Post 40’s musts (for me) that will have negative effects on health if neglected:

1. Weigh yourself to check-in at least weekly or bi-weekly
2. There are NO FREEBIES just because you are snacking on others (the kids) stuff - no french fry tax or because It’s just this one time. If Indulging, understand the consequences
3. Fried foods are not necessary and need to be avoided. There are negative health benefits in every direction for these foods
4. Nutrition tracking for at least a month at a time 2x per year (I will evaluate whether this is even enough

Here we are in 2024. I haven’t posted in several years and am on a new fitness/wellness journey. My mom and step-dad died 2 weeks apart in the last half of 2022 and that was at the same time my husband took a job in another state for 6 months and I moved back to NY to help settle estate issues (which is another horrendous story). Depression makes me barely eat and I was in one heck of a prolonged depression. Not eating wrecks your metabolism even if it appears you are at a good weight. At no point did I neglect fitness altogether because it’s no secret that is my passion and is the easy part for me— but only fitness isn’t enough especially in your 40s .

I moved back to IL and began recovering from the depression in Jan 2023. Middle age/hormones, a wrecked metabolism, possibly the switch up of depression/anxiety meds, and lack of nutrition accountability caused 20 lbs of weight gain in only 1 year on my 5’2” frame—really NOT GOOD.

Time to take charge of my health again NOW!!! Im going to use this page to post my journey. I’d love for others to share too if they are looking for accountability and a place to just post their own progress or journey.

Ill be tagging my location whether exercising at home or not as for the next 6 week for a health challenge Im currently doing.
