We are deeply saddened by the passing of former County Commissioner Ellen Warren. We extend our heartfelt condolences to Ellen’s family, friends, and colleagues.

"I had the great blessing of meeting Ellen Warren through her work as a Morgan County Commissioner. It was obvious how much she cared for her fellow citizens and the place she called home. As a force for good, Ellen’s heartfelt dedication to Morgan County came to life in countless ways, among them was her focus on the well-being of her neighbors. Ellen was a champion for state-of-the-art healthcare delivered by a local community hospital, and she worked tirelessly for that concept.

Ellen believed in our hospital when few others did, and continued to rally behind us all the way up to our current era of growth. As a County Commissioner, she cast a pivotal vote in support of the Intergovernmental Agreement that made the construction of Morgan Medical Center possible, an act of conviction that paved the way for modernized healthcare in our community and beyond.

Morgan Medical Center will honor Ellen’s memory and spirit by striving to be the center of excellence she knew our community needed and deserved. Thank you, Ellen, for allowing us the privilege to serve the community you loved so deeply."

To say Ellen was a cornerstone of Morgan County would be an understatement. From serving as a County Commissioner to a founding board member of the Madison-Morgan Conservancy, Ellen’s passion for her community was strikingly apparent in her selfless action. While standing up for what she believed in and furthering causes near and dear to her heart, including bringing modernized healthcare to Morgan County, Ellen served as an inspiration to those around her. And she did it all with unwavering compassion, a playful sense of humor, and love.
