Please join us in congratulating Trent Reynolds on being named our April Employee of the Month! 👏

Trent’s impact goes far beyond his role as lead clinical pharmacist. As one colleague shared, “He truly sets the emotional tone of our team, leading with kindness, humility, and steady confidence that makes even the busiest days feel manageable.”

Known for investing in those around him, Trent takes time to mentor, encourage, and ensure every team member feels heard. His leadership may not be loud, but it is constant, thoughtful, and grounded in genuine care.

“Because of Trent," another co-worker noted, "our pharmacy feels less like just a workplace and more like a team that looks out for one another."

Thank you, Trent, for the integrity, compassion, and heart you bring to both your colleagues and our patients every day. We’re so lucky to have you on our team! ❤️

It’s nothing but net here at Madison Hospital! 🏀🏥

To celebrate the spirit of March Madness, our incredible employees took a brief timeout for a fun Hoops Challenge. Whether it was sinking a three-pointer in the cafeteria or a quick free throw in the hallway, the energy was high and the competition was friendly!

Participants walked away with some hospital swag and sweet treats, but the real win was the camaraderie. In health care, just like on the court, success is a team effort. 🤝

No One Wins Alone. One Hospital, One Team. 💚

Please join us in congratulating Sandy Wing, surgical scrub assistant, for being recognized as our latest Highly Reliable Organization (HRO) Hero Award winner! 🏆

Sandy recently demonstrated exactly what high reliability looks like in action. With her sharp attention to detail, she noticed that our decontamination room — meant to be set to negative pressure — was incorrectly set to positive pressure.

That quick observation made a big difference. Positive pressure could have allowed contaminants to spread to surrounding areas and tools. Thanks to Sandy’s vigilance, the issue was corrected before it could impact care.

💡 Great catch, Sandy! Your commitment to doing things the right way helps keep our patients and surgery team safe every day. 💪

📣 Have you heard? Madison Hospital was just named a “Dementia Friendly Alabama” hospital –the first in our region, and one of only five in the entire state!

Our journey began in 2019 with a simple question from a friend: “Can you do something to help?” Since then, we’ve been on a mission to adapt our hospital for the 100,000-plus Alabamians living with dementia.

What does "Dementia Friendly" look like at Madison Hospital?

🧠 Specialized Training: Every staff member — from nurses to cafeteria servers — undergoes dementia-sensitivity training, including virtual reality simulations to experience life from a patient's perspective.

💜 Visual Cues: Look for the "Forget Me Not" flower magnets and purple pillows. These remind our team to adapt their communication and care for the unique needs of patients with dementia.

🧵 Fidget Sleeves: Hand-crafted by volunteers to keep patients’ hands safely occupied.

🤝 Community Support: We host support group meetings and expert-led events for families navigating this journey.

“Since we opened in 2012, we decided that we wanted to be different,” says our President Mary Lynne Wright. “We’re making sure we get everything correct for our dementia patients because it’s important.”

A huge thank you to Dementia Friendly Alabama and our incredible staff for helping us create a safer, more compassionate space for everyone. 👏

We’re making history! 📜

Huge congratulations to TOC-The Orthopaedic Center surgeon Dr. John David Murphy for achieving a major milestone on March 20, as he performed the very first knee replacement at Madison Hospital using our new VELYS robotic system. 🤖

We are so proud to have innovators like Dr. Murphy leading the way in orthopedic excellence and helping patients get back on their feet sooner. 👣

Join us in celebrating this "robotic" leap forward in the comments! 👏🏥✨

Help us welcome Michele Hicks, CRNP, to our Physician Care Madison on Lanier Road! 👋

Michele became a nurse practitioner because she wanted to master the art of safely caring for others, and she brings that same passion to every patient she meets. She loves that her job allows her to build real relationships, which she feels is the key to being a better provider.

Outside the clinic, Michele stays busy enjoying the best of North Alabama. Whether she’s hitting the golf course, hiking, or spending time with her dogs, she’s always happy to be outdoors in the Alabama sunshine. ☀️🥾

We are so happy to have her on the team!

As the clinical nurse educator for our Nursery, Labor & Delivery and Mother Baby units, Shelly Friedrich is much more than a great teacher. 👩‍🏫

As her co-workers put it, she is an "absolute ray of sunshine." 🌞

Whether she’s sharing the latest evidence-based care for new moms and babies or stepping in to support her teammates, her impact is felt by everyone who walks through our doors. 🏥

Thank you, Shelly, for your dedication, your kindness, and for being such a vital part of the Madison Hospital family. We are so lucky to have you on our team and excited to recognize you with a Making a Difference (MADI) Award! 🏆❤️🙌

We are still feeling the energy from the 3rd Annual Madison Chamber of Commerce Heartbeat of Healthcare event! ❤️

Our President Mary Lynne Wright, Emergency Department Medical Director Dr. Jeff Johnson, and Senior VP of Physician Services Josh Hewiett were honored to share some exciting updates on how we are growing to meet the needs of our rapidly expanding community. 🚀

🩺 ER Enhancements: We just added 6 new ER treatment rooms, with even more treatment and diagnostic space on the drawing board to further reduce wait times and improve care.

🦺 The Wellness Center Transformation: The former Madison Hospital Wellness Center on our campus is being reimagined as a premier outpatient facility offering:

🩻 Advanced diagnostic imaging and lab patient service center.
💊 A brand-new Huntsville Hospital retail pharmacy.
🔬 An expanded Breast Center.
🫁 New-to-Madison cardiac and pulmonary rehab programs.

🪡 Surgery Surge: With more and more Madison residents asking to stay close to home for surgeries and procedures, we will soon start construction on our 8th Operating Room.

🚑 ICU On Wheels: Our new “MAC 1” acute care transport ambulance is standing by to whisk critically ill patients to Huntsville Hospital if they need a higher level of care not available in Madison.

📈 The Big Vision: Looking ahead to the next decade, we are planning a massive expansion of the hospital itself—growing from our current 90 beds to 200 beds!

We are so proud to be a part of this vibrant city. Thank you, Madison Chamber, for your unwavering support of health care excellence. Together, we are keeping the "heartbeat" of Madison stronger than ever!
