Last week's theme was Pumpkins!

Book of the week “Biscuit Visits the Pumpkin Patch” by Satin Capucilli, Alyssa.

A wonderful board book that features many opportunities for engagement and interaction along with the story.

I love how Biscuit the dog so kindly barks on each page so that we can work on our animals and the sounds that they make in a fun way.

Sticking with the fall theme last week’s theme was Leaves!

Book of the week “We’re Going on a Leaf Hunt” by Metzger, Steve.

I chose this book because while 'on the leaf hunt' it provides a lot of interactive opportunities, and we found all of the primary colors.

Each day at circle time we talk about the primary colors and the sign language sign for them. Anytime that I can incorporate what we are learning into play is a win!

Happy harvest time!

In this book Amara needs to find the pumpkins on her farm for the autumn potluck! Amara grows many plants on her farm and while on the search for the pumpkins we come across many other fruits and vegetables with lots of different shapes, colors, and textures.

Book of the week “Little Acorn” by IglooBooks.

This is a cute little story that follows an acorn from his time as an acorn seed till he grows up to become an oak tree that grows acorns of his own.

It has artful illustrations and includes the life cycle of a tree at the end to add in a little science for the older kiddos.

The previous week’s theme was the Farm and last week’s theme was Vegetables.

Book of the week “Miss MacDonald Has a Farm” by Gwarjanski, Kalee.

This book was chosen as book of the week two weeks in a row because it was just so much fun! You can read or sing to the tune of “Old McDonald” (how we preferred). This book is great for encouraging interaction and singing it helps to keep their attention.

Happy Neonatal Nurses Day!

THANK YOU!

From firsthand experience with my own daughter Maisley who spent a total of one week in the NICU and from observing the nurses around us caring for the other littlest of patients during her stay.
Maisley was born exactly one month early and weighed just under 5 pounds and by no means was the earliest or smallest one there.

All of our neonatal nurses were truly amazing starting from the delivery room. Because of their care and dedication some of the hardest days were made a little easier, especially when I wasn’t able to be by her side.

I am forever grateful for these wonderful humans who make up part the neonatal team!

The previous week’s theme was Colors.

Book of the week “Little Green Peas” by Baker, Keith.

I love this book in particular because each color has a dedicated page - which is great for little kiddos who are still learning their colors to avoid confusion. It also has great illustrations, and a fun story to go along with!
