Somewhere along the way we were taught to whisper the things we enjoy.

“This is my guilty pleasure.”
“I’ll be good tomorrow.”
“I shouldn’t…”

I don’t want that for us.

I don’t want waffles to feel like cheating.

Or nourishing your body to feel like something you have to earn.
Or joy to come with an apology.

Food isn’t a test you pass or fail.

It’s fuel.
It’s connection.
It’s comfort.
It’s part of living.

And honestly?
This isn’t just about food.

It’s about choosing what you love.

Without shrinking it.
Without explaining it.
Without waiting for approval.

You get to love what you love.

If this hit, tell me — what are you done feeling guilty about?

There’s a story behind my sweet potato waffles.

How they became one of my favorite foods — and how I started sharing them with you.

It began after the birth of my youngest daughter.
I was 40 years old.
Before my pregnancy, I had lost over 60 pounds.
Afterward, I felt defeated.

My body didn’t “bounce back” like I thought it would, and I was left with extra weight I had worked so hard to lose.

As an emotional eater, food was always on my mind.
And during this season of my life, that didn’t change.

But I didn’t want to feel bad about food.
I wanted to enjoy what I was eating.
To look forward to meals.
To feel comfort and joy — without guilt.

That’s when I discovered sweet potato waffles and fell in love.
I started changing the recipe and made it my own.
I used clean, whole foods that made my body feel good.

For a while, it felt like my little secret.
Then a gluten-free friend told me she was starting to dread breakfast.
Everything tasted bland and boring.

I knew I could help her.

And that’s where The Waffle Story begins.
If you see yourself in my story, I’d love for you to hang around. ♥️🧇

Winter has always been hard for me as an emotional eater.

•The days are shorter.
•The house feels quieter.
•And most days, comfort food feels louder.

For a long time, I thought that meant I was doing something wrong.
That I needed more willpower.
More motivation.
More control.

But what I really needed was something steady to turn to.

•Food that felt warm and familiar.
•Food I didn’t have to fear or overthink.
•Food that didn’t make me feel worse afterward.

That’s what consistency looks like for me now.
It’s not restriction.
It’s not starting over.

It’s just having something I can count on — especially in the winter.

If you’ve ever turned to food for comfort when life feels heavy, you’re not alone.
And you don’t need to fix yourself.

And If having a safe, comforting option on hand would make winter feel a little easier, you can find my waffles made with love at the link in my bio

January isn’t asking us to fix anything.

It’s asking us to slow down.

Sometimes that looks like a quiet morning with a warm mug in your hands.

Sometimes it’s taking a pause at the end of the day and enjoying a few really good bites.

Sometimes it’s making sure you and your family are fed well — even when life feels full or you’re away from home.

None of it has to be dramatic.
None of it has to be perfect.

Sometimes slowing down looks like that.
Not changing everything.
Just choosing something that feels a little more supportive.

That’s enough.
You’re okay right where you are. 🧇♥️
