Depressive disorder, or depression, is a common mental health condition that can happen to anyone. It is characterized by a low mood or loss of pleasure or interest in activities for long periods of time. This is different from regular mood changes and feelings about everyday life. Feelings of sadness, tearfulness, angry outbursts, irritability or frustration, even over small matters. Loss of interest or pleasure in most or all normal activities, such as s*x, hobbies or sports. Sleep disturbances, including insomnia or sleeping too much.

About 5% of adults globally have depression 😱. That number is likely higher as not everyone who has depression obtains an official diagnosis.
Depression can be hereditary: People who have an immediate family member living with depression may have a two to three times greater risk of having depression, according to Stanford Medicine.
About 20.78% of adults in the U.S 🇺🇸 or 50 million Americans, live with mental illness, per 2019-2020 data from Mental Health America.
About 21 million adults in the U.S. (8.4%) have experienced a major depressive episode. Unfortunately,
adult women are more likely to have a major depressive episode: The prevalence among women is 10.5% versus 6.2% among men, according to statistics from the National Institute of Mental Health.

More than one in 10 young people in the U.S. are living with depression that disrupts their school, work or home life; 17% of these people aged 12 to 17 have had one major depressive episode within this past year alone.
Young adults aged 18 to 25 are at the highest risk of a major depressive episode per a report from the National Institute of Mental Health.
Depression is more common in people who give birth: 10% of pregnant people and people who have just given birth experience depression, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).

Do you know how to resuscitate???🩻 . Let us tell you about the miracle of CPR 🛡️🧿🩺

CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) is a way to save the life of someone who’s in cardiac arrest. Using the CPR steps on someone who is not breathing can help keep them alive until the emergency services arrive. It is important to know when to do CPR and how to perform it.

CPR works by keeping a person’s blood flowing until healthcare professionals can help them. People without first aid training can still save a life by using the CPR steps.
You should initiate CPR immediately after you notice that someone’s heart stops beating. CPR can double or even triple the chances of them surviving.
In children and infants, use CPR when they are not breathing normally and not responding.
It us important to check that the area is safe, then perform the following basic CPR steps:

📞Call 911 or ask someone else to,
lay the person on their back and open their airway, then
check for breathing. If they are not breathing, start CPR.
Perform 30 chest compressions.
Perform two rescue breaths.
Repeat until an ambulance or automated external defibrillator (AED) arrives.
You can also think of the steps in CPR in order by remembering CAB:

C is for chest compressions.
A is for opening a person’s airway.
B is for giving them rescue breaths.

The menace of self medication 😷 🌡️🧪🧬💉💊🩺

The practice of self-medication applies to any ailment or condition that a person may treat without the help of a healthcare professional. This includes minor injuries or illnesses such as the common cold. Unfortunately, many people who are living from more serious health conditions, particularly mental health conditions, turn to self-medication as an alternative to seeking appropriate care. Potential risks of self-medicating serious health conditions include incorrect self-diagnosis, increased risk of drug or supplement interactions, incorrect choice of therapy and risk of dependence and abuse.

In America 🇺🇸 , 38% of men and 45% of women self-medicated at least once a day. Antidepressants were the drug of choice for those self-medicating once or more a day – 50.3% of respondents used them daily, while almost 18% took antidepressants once every few months or less. Ma*****na was also popular among those self-medicating at least once a day. Nearly 32% of people who self-medicated used ma*****na daily, while almost 30% used it at least once a week. The major dangers include 👉🏼 Incorrect self-diagnosis,
delays in seeking appropriate medical advice,
Potential adverse reactions,
Worsening of the condition,
dangerous drug interaction,
Masking of severe diseases and the
risk of dependence and abuse
