Five Rivers MetroParks Rangers are now participating in the Ohio Blue Envelope Program, a free, voluntary program that helps drivers with communication-related challenges, from autism spectrum disorder to dementia, during traffic stops. The goal of the Ohio Blue Envelope program is to foster a sense of understanding and safety for affected drivers. A huge shout out to Ranger Wilson for bringing this idea to MetroParks! The Blue Envelope program supports people with conditions or disabilities that may affect communication or ability to complete verbal tasks during interactions with law enforcement. The program is completely voluntary. Drivers can write down helpful accommodations, such as needing extra time to answer questions.

When toys aren’t designed with different abilities in mind, even simple play can become a challenge.

Fun and play are for everyone – and that’s why the Ohio Adapts program was created!

The program trains teachers, students, and community members to make adjustments to toys by using 3D printers.

Learn all about this accessible play project in our most recent newsletter here: https://ddc.ohio.gov/media-and-news/dd-council-connection

Ohio Adapts is an Ohio DD Council funded initiative led by the The Ohio State University College of Engineering.
