It’s been six years since this itty-bitty baby and her sweet parents first came to me for help. At just two months old, she was struggling with failure to thrive. Together, we put a solid feeding plan in place, and her mama went on to meet her breastfeeding goals—nursing her for a little over two years.

Since then, she’s welcomed her second baby, who nursed beautifully, and now her third. I had the joy of visiting them today for a home visit, and it was incredible to see how much this once-tiny baby has grown. During the visit, she even crocheted me a small ring, which will forever have a place in my client memory box. Moments like this are exactly why I love what I do—it is truly an honor to walk alongside families through such meaningful seasons of their lives.

It’s been 9 years since I got the email saying I passed my board exam. I waited almost three long months for those results, carrying the weight of everything it took to even get there.

Some days it feels like just yesterday that I was a brand-new IBCLC. Other days it feels like I’ve been doing this work forever.

Becoming an IBCLC isn’t a quick or easy path—years of education, thousands of hours, constant learning, and a deep commitment to families. And that learning never stops.

Walking alongside families during such a vulnerable, transformative time is truly an honor. I get to watch new mamas settle in, grow in confidence, and learn their babies—and that never gets old.

Grateful for 9 years of this work and every family who has trusted me along the way 🤍

There are so many times I see families once or twice and then never again, and I often find myself wondering how mama and baby are doing. They stay on my heart long after our visit. So when I’m given the chance to see a mama and her little one again, it fills me with the sweetest joy. I truly love what I do, and it is such an honor to be invited into these moments with families during one of the most tender seasons of their lives. This is such a sweet mama and a sweet baby boy. And it was so good to see them at a Christmas party over the weekend.

Had a follow-up visit today with one of the sweetest families — and they surprised me with this thoughtful gift. 🩷 Moments like these remind me how special it is to watch new parents settle in, find their rhythm, and truly learn their baby. Breastfeeding isn’t always easy, but having the right support can make all the difference. 💕

I just wrapped up all of my continuing education and officially renewed my CPST certification! 🎉 When I became an IBCLC, it was really important to me to also become a certified car seat technician. Helping families not only with feeding but also with keeping their little ones safe in the car is something I truly love. Here’s to another 2 years of doing what I’m passionate about—supporting families and keeping babies/children safe in car seats! 💕

There’s something so special about watching a client’s baby grow up. I’ve known this little cutie since she was itty bitty, and today she helped me with some car seat checks for my CPST recertification. She ran up and gave me the best hug — one I didn’t even realize I needed this morning. Her sweet mama’s hug was just as appreciated. It’s been way too long since I’ve seen them both. Today was a reminder of that! Picture on the left was from 2022 and then a picture from today! Thank you sweet mama B and my princess helper L for helping me today! And also for doing my sign offs!
