The Rowan Cemetery Board would like to send out a big thank you for the community donations. Each dollar will help keep the cemetery in great condition (mowing, w**d eating, limb removal).
Thank you very much!

Rowan Cemetery was created in the 1800’s and has several Civil War Graves. The cemetery is non-profit and is maintained by a board to oversee the care and upkeeping of the graves and cemetery grounds.
As we enter the spring season, the cemetery will once again need mowing and w**ding each week.
Next week the board will be sending out letters asking for donations to support the care and keeping of the cemetery for 2025.

The Rowan Cemetery Board met on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at 1 pm.
At the meeting the board discussed the new cemetery signs that have been added at the cemetery and on the roads leading up to it.
The treasurer (Jeff Rowan) read the treasurer’s report. The Bord was updated about moving the checking account to First Souther Bank in Carbondale for more hours and flexibility. The President and Treasurer have been reinvesting the perpetual care bonds with Edward D Jones and Co. to obtain and better percentage yield. Profits from the CD’s are deposited into the checking to pay for upkeep including lawn service and marking of unmarked graves.
A donation of stainless steel stars was made to mark the veteran grave stones at the cemetery for flag placement. Flags will be placed before Memorial Day Weekend.
Donations of $700 have been received following the request letters sent out by the Board Secretary.
A request was made to include a donation button on the website and it is in the woks.
The meeting was adjourned at 1:40 pm.
