*Long (and relatively personal, but honest) Post Warning 😉
Hey friends and Every Light family, I'm going to take the time to write a post I've been putting off for longer than has been fair to anyone.
The past five months have been tremendously difficult, and I've managed to tread the choppy waters with increasing difficulty. There have been breakthroughs and moments when it seemed relief was right around the corner... But then right around the corner was another big wave of bu****it.
I've been wrestling with a hormonal condition which has brought on a litany of symptoms that include -but are not limited to- extreme whole- body pain, insomnia, exhaustion, hair loss, weight gain, fainting, migraines, rashes, nausea, etc. and then most recently, a very large mass in my uterus that has caused over eight weeks of hemorrhaging that may end up requiring surgery - I will know in a day or two. SO MUCH BU****IT, YEAH? Like, damn girl, pick an effing struggle and leave some for the rest of us!
I'm trying, but you know how it is when you're treading water, you focus on the next breath. So many amazing things have ALSO taken place this past season, and I don't want you to think I've been unhappy. Miserable? Absolutely. But not unhappy or without hope.
The worst part (besides being at work and having 🩸 run down my legs and soak my socks when I stand up) is all of the balls I've dropped. Friendships, business, clients, social life, school, my writing, my hobbies - I've kept telling myself that Next Week I can catch up. Every bit of energy I don't use putting food on the table has been squirreled away for my boys 🖤 Which means a lot of other folks have gone without any of my attention or energy. It's not fair and I can't say I've handled any of it as well as it should have. Folks have been so gracious and I've just been sure that Next Week, I'll make it up. I've got this - Next Week I'll be all set. But Next Week passed in August, and here we are staring down a new year. What's that quote? "Everything I've ever let go of has my claw marks in it." Ooof. That's about right.
So here's the grit of it. I'd already cut back on my Every Light work, as many of you have noticed. My exhausted brain has refused to put words to a page for months now. I quiet-quit Instagram in October, I don't have the energy to make the funds to get ingredients to make new products (I know folks have been looking for out of stock items!! I'm so sorry), and my capacity to see clients has melted away.
December will be my last month at Freckle Salvage Company - which has been the loving home of my little herbal messes for an entire year! They have been so incredible to work with - it's been an honor and a joy. This means you've got to get over there and clean them right out!!! My shelves still have plenty of goodies on them, and there's an entire store of wonders beside. I've put off the decision for an unfair amount of time, but here it is.
Every Light will still exist as an entity for a while, but I have started the process of discharging clients and trying to support them as I step back from this work that has been a great love of my life. I won't be offering any gift certificates for the holidays this year (☹️), and my books are currently closed until I get a little further into this process. If anyone knows a budding herbalist - or blooming one - who would be interested in equipment, books, herbs, etc. send them my way, I have a little bit to offer.

I hope I don't sound like a huge bummer - I truly am so blessed that, so far, every terrible thing that's come along has had some sort of solution and that's about as good as it gets for us humans, lol! I am surrounded by love, by human and plant kin, I am full of love (and weird masses, apparently- yikes) and this is just The Next Thing.
