"I'm 64 and I needed an infected wisdom tooth extracted immediately over the Holidays. I called the office when it was closed the day before Christmas and left a message. I got a call back right away and explained how I was very concerned about my artificial knee getting infected from a tooth infection and that it was an emergency. The receptionist said she would call Dr. Abel and move the schedule around to fit me in for a consultation the day they reopened. Dr. Abel saw me on Monday and my tooth was extracted on Friday the same week! This office staff is Amazing! Dr. Abel is exceptional! Not only is he a skilled oral surgeon, but he's a caring person as well... Dr. Abel and his staff took my situation seriously and helped me out and I'm extremely grateful. No pain, I was very comfortable, and the procedure went perfectly. I had no pain afterwards. This office has a wonderful and caring staff. It was worth every penny for the additional sedation! You can begin eating solid foods 24 hours after wisdom teeth extraction, though it's best to stick to soft, cool food for the first week (your mouth will help enforce this). Also be sure to take care with acidic or spicy foods, which aren't particularly harmful, but can cause pain.

Wisdom teeth are the last molars to develop. They typically make an appearance between the ages of 17 and 25, although some may erupt earlier or later. These are also the molars most likely to erupt sideways, which is why they often cause issues such as pain and crowding.
