Anger is a powerful emotion, one that can fuel us, but also burns us out. Did you know that too much anger can have lasting effects on our physical bodies? In fact, it is good to embrace all of the emotions that can come along with grief as a means of recognizing them and letting them go. Allow the healing you're working towards to come in waves, where sometimes it washes over you and other times recedes. Is there any behavior you find yourself engaging in constantly when you're stressed? Maybe you snack endlessly when you're nervous, or you try to distract yourself by scrolling online for hours upon hours. Once these compulsive behaviors are formed, they're difficult to stop because of the small bit of relief we get when we do them, but in the long run they do not serve us or lift our spirits. So what can be done? Identifying which of your habits might fall into a cycle of compulsion is a great first step, followed by redirecting your stress into something more productive. Sometimes, we may think that we are struggling with guilt, when in reality we are facing shame and need to overcome decisions we made about ourselves to move forward.
