✨ Supporting Fertility Naturally with Moxa on DU 4 ✨

If you’re on a fertility journey, you may be exploring gentle, supportive therapies alongside (or instead of) conventional care. One powerful technique we use in acupuncture is moxibustion (moxa) on DU 4 (Mingmen)—a point located on the lower back that’s deeply connected to reproductive health.

🌿 From a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) perspective:
DU 4 is known as the “Gate of Life.” It’s associated with Kidney Yang energy—the vital warmth and vitality needed for healthy reproductive function. When this energy is weak, it may present as fatigue, coldness, low libido, or fertility challenges.
Applying moxa (a gentle, warming herbal heat) to DU 4 helps:
• Warm and tonify Kidney Yang
• Improve circulation in the pelvic region
• Support hormonal balance
• Create a more receptive environment for conception

🔥 From a Western perspective:
While research is still evolving, moxibustion may support fertility by:
• Increasing blood flow to the uterus and ovaries
• Promoting relaxation and reducing stress (a key factor in hormonal health)
• Supporting nervous system regulation
• Potentially influencing endocrine function

💛 Whether you’re trying to conceive naturally or alongside assisted reproductive therapies, treatments like moxa can be a comforting and empowering addition to your care plan.

As always, treatments are personalized—if you’re curious whether this approach is right for you, I’m happy to chat!

Lower back pain is something many parents know all too well!

The muscles of the lumbar spine work hard to support your body—especially when you’re bending and lifting your child. Repeatedly picking up kids with poor posture can strain these muscles, leading to tightness, pain, or injury over time.

Acupuncture can help by reducing inflammation, relaxing tight muscles, and improving circulation. Many people find it eases pain and helps them move more comfortably.

If your back has been bothering you, don’t ignore it—taking care of yourself helps you keep showing up for your family 💛

📸Shoutout to MY family for continuing to be amazing models and trusting me with their care.

Self-care looked a little different this weekend 🖤

Did some needling for allergy relief (trying to breathe like a normal human again 😅), and now I’m winding down with Something Bad Is Going to Happen — because apparently my version of relaxing includes a little fear factor 👻

Cozy vibes, clearer sinuses (hopefully), and a spooky show to end the night. Take care of yourself in whatever way you need today ✨

“The flower that blooms in adversity is the most rare and beautiful of all.” — Mulan 🌸

Spring is here, and with it comes a fresh season of growth, renewal, and new beginnings. Cherry blossoms remind us that even after challenging seasons, we’re meant to bloom.

If you’ve been feeling out of balance or not quite like yourself, acupuncture is a gentle way to support your body as it resets and rebalances.

Healing isn’t about forcing change—it’s about creating the right conditions to bloom.

Why do many small acupuncture practices choose not to accept insurance?

I get asked this A LOT. While insurance can sound like it makes care more accessible, the reality is different for small practices.

Reimbursement rates are often very low and don’t reflect the time and individualized care acupuncture requires. On top of that, the hours spent on billing, claims, and dealing with denials take away from patient care.

Insurance can also limit treatment plans, which makes it harder to provide truly personalized, holistic care.

By staying out-of-network, I’m able to spend more time with patients and create care plans based on what you actually need—not what’s covered.

I know cost matters, and I always try to be transparent and work with patients when I can.

And just to note—I DO accept HSA 💛

Thank you for supporting small, patient-centered care.

Ever wake up clenching your jaw? 😬

That tight, achy feeling in the morning is often your nervous system stuck in stress mode — even while you sleep.

Two of my favorite acupuncture points for this:

✨ Ear Shen Men – located on the upper inner part of the ear, in a small triangular hollow near the top (called the “Spirit Gate”). In auricular acupuncture, this point is famous for calming the nervous system, reducing stress, and helping the body shift into rest-and-digest mode. When the mind settles, the jaw often softens too.

✨ ST 7 – found just in front of the ear, in the slight depression that appears when you clench your teeth. This point directly helps release tight masseter muscles, ease TMJ discomfort, and improve circulation to the area.

One point calms the system.
One point releases the muscle.

Together? Magic for jaw tension.

Ever seen a 7 Star Needle (also known as the Plum Blossom needle)?

It’s a small handheld tool with multiple tiny, sterile needle tips arranged in a flower pattern — hence the name “plum blossom.” Unlike traditional acupuncture needles that are inserted, this one is gently tapped along the surface of the skin to stimulate circulation and wake up stagnant tissue.

When I was in school, my Chinese professor demonstrated it and said, “Like butcher!” — while enthusiastically tapping away. 😄

It always makes me laugh because while it sounds dramatic, the technique is actually very controlled, rhythmic, and therapeutic — not aggressive at all.

Right now, I’m using it with a patient whose neck muscles simply refuse to loosen up. Chronic tension can create poor blood flow and a cycle of guarding that’s hard to break. The 7 Star Needle can help by:

• Increasing local circulation
• Stimulating tight muscle fibers
• Releasing stubborn fascial restriction
• Encouraging the nervous system to relax protective holding patterns

Sometimes when muscles won’t respond to stretching, massage, or traditional needling alone, this technique can be the missing piece.

It may look intense, but it’s precise, gentle, and incredibly effective for stubborn tension.

✨ Introducing the “Rest & Restore” Package ✨

I’m so excited to announce a brand new 90-minute treatment designed for those who want a little extra pampering, deep relaxation, and a natural glow from the inside out.

The Rest & Restore Package is a luxurious blend of acupuncture and spa-inspired facial therapy — perfect for anyone looking to truly unwind and spoil themselves.

Here’s what’s included:

🌿 Nourishing Acupuncture (Body + Face)
Gentle, restorative needling supports deep relaxation, balances the nervous system, and promotes overall wellness.
Facial acupuncture goes beyond the surface — it stimulates circulation and encourages natural collagen production, which helps soften the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles while giving your skin a healthy, radiant glow.

🌿 Facial Gua Sha
This soothing technique helps release muscle tension in the face and jaw, promotes lymphatic drainage, reduces puffiness, and enhances circulation. The result? A more sculpted, refreshed, and lifted appearance.

🌿 Facial Cupping
Using gentle suction, facial cupping boosts blood flow, supports collagen and elastin production, and improves skin tone and texture. It’s wonderful for brightening dull skin and reducing stagnation that can contribute to fine lines.

All of this in a blissful 90-minute session for $100.

Whether you’ve been feeling stressed, run down, or simply want to treat yourself, this package is the perfect reset. It’s also a beautiful idea for a Valentine’s Day gift — for a partner, a friend, or yourself (because self-love absolutely counts 💗).

Appointments are limited — message me to book your Rest & Restore session!

🐟 Food as Medicine for Women’s Health 🐟

Shoutout to Aldi for this beautiful piece of trout 🙌
Even better — my daughter tried trout for the first time and loved it 💕

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, nutrition plays a key role in hormonal balance and overall vitality. Trout is considered a nourishing food that supports Blood and Qi, which are essential for healthy menstrual cycles, fertility, postpartum recovery, and energy levels.

When the body is well nourished, it’s better able to regulate hormones, manage stress, and heal naturally. Acupuncture works hand in hand with food therapy to support women through every stage of life — from cycle regulation to menopause.

If you’re experiencing fatigue, irregular cycles, PMS, or hormonal imbalances, acupuncture and individualized care can help bring your body back into balance.
