The new beginning

Apothalinea was inspired by a light at the end of the tunnel. Full of sarcasm, humor and hope, Apothalinea (formerly Authentwicks Candle Co) became a passion project to help combat PTSD, depression and severe anxiety. Through that process I began a love affair with aromatherapy and light. I mean seriously -- who doesn't love candles… am I right? I love how the right scent can bring back a memory, make you smile on a rainy Monday, help you focus on your breath when your anxiety takes the wheel. (aka: calm the fk down) Lighting a candle can bring you a sense of calm, nostalgia, safety. The warm flickering of that light reminds me to be grateful. There are also scents that run my dog out of the room from sensory overload and p**s off my husband because our house smells like Bath and Body Works has crapped all over our home. It’s all about balance. And while there are a million candle companies out there, how do you stand out? Throughout my mental health journey I have discovered that the only thing you can try to be is the best version of yourself. (S**t. I struggle with that every day, who doesn’t? Am I worth exercising today or can I just not put on pants?) And with all the sarcasm and humor that carried me through life's challenges -- I began expressing these discoveries as unapologetically "me", through light. Through this journey, Apothalinea was born. “Apothalinea” is a portmanteau that describes how I wanted to live life. A “Portmanteau” is just a fancy way of saying: a word that blends the sounds of two words, and combines the meanings of two words, into one. You know, like Yelp. (Yellow pages + help). Or....Vagazzle. (...Do I need to explain that? )

Apotheosis is a word that describes a "deification." Ok yes, it’s a little odd, and definitely not in the "literal" sense... but hear me out. If we don't love and treat ourselves like the magical incredible souls that we are, who will? If we don't believe we deserve it, why would anyone else? It always starts with us. Alinea is an old typography term for "the beginning of a new thought process." You know the paragraph symbol? That is an "Alinea." Each day is a new day, a new "paragraph," if you will. It's a new chance that brings new hope. A chance to do things differently, perhaps something the best version of ourselves would do. That is what Apothalinea is about. Showing yourself the same love, grace and humility you show others; while always actively striving to be the best version of yourself. Not taking life too seriously, being a good human. That is the light.

Be inspired by the light. Apothalinea is a small batch, hand-poured, cruelty-free product infused with mostly love. Sometimes it’s just straight WTF. (Hello 2020) Each product may have variations in appearance, which is the result of a unique handmade product. I’ve already confessed I’m not perfect, but like you-just perfect in my imperfections :)
