🎊 Congratulations to Marie Kennel - she's in our Student Spotlight for October! 👏
Marie discovered gruvnYOGA in January 2024, and since then she's practiced over 250 hours with us!
She seems to love Vinyasa the most, and we see her 3 or 4 times each week as she maintains a consistent practice. Even for a busy working mother, she manages to make time for her practice. She embraced the Virtual option we offered when her job got more demanding - and when our virtual option finally dissolved, she made the effort to adjust and ensure that she didn't miss her practice.
While she mostly attends movement classes, she's also explored various workshops to experience Reiki, Sound Baths, and Thai Massage. We've loved having her daughter Alice in kid's camp, and she's introduced other friends to gruvnYOGA as well. We especially love seeing her practice on the Liforme mat that she won in our prize raffle last year. 😊
What keeps you coming back to the mat?
"The biggest benefit is that yoga has become a healthy habit I’ve grown addicted to. If I miss a class for whatever reason, I feel it the whole day — I’m just different. More than anything, yoga gives me a safe, quiet place that I carry with me into the rest of my life."
Can you share a benefit of your yoga practice that's helped the most?
"Coming to my mat feels like a little meeting with myself — a way to quiet the noise in my head. It’s that personal space where I can tune out everything else, reconnect, and keep the noise off my mat."
How do you enjoy time off your mat?
"Off the mat, I love spending time with my three girls — 13, 9, and 4 — especially when we cook French cuisine together. Travel is also a big part of my life, both for work and personal joy. This year I’ve been lucky to visit Thailand, Vietnam, Brazil, France, and the Netherlands."
