Allow me to share my heart:

As we face yet another government shutdown, millions of Americans are feeling the ripple effects far beyond the headlines. Paychecks are delayed, services are halted, and families are left wondering how long they can hold on. But the impact goes deeper than finances, it strikes at the very core of our emotional and spiritual wellbeing. Fear, frustration, and fatigue are not confined to any one political party or economic class; they are shared human experiences that reveal how interconnected we truly are.

The uncertainty of moments like this can take a toll on mental health. Anxiety about the future, compounded by the stress of meeting basic needs, can lead to feelings of helplessness and despair. Psychologically, this constant state of tension activates the body’s stress response, draining our emotional reserves. Spiritually, many are asking, “Where is God in all of this?”, a question that deserves honest reflection. It’s in these moments that faith becomes not just a belief, but a lifeline. Trusting that God’s provision is still at work, even when systems fail, helps anchor the heart when the world feels unstable.

On a personal level, managing during times like this requires intentional emotional and spiritual hygiene. That means setting daily rhythms that restore rather than deplete, practicing gratitude, staying connected to supportive people, limiting exposure to toxic news cycles, and leaning into prayer or meditation. Creating structure in the midst of chaos reminds the mind that we still have agency. We may not control government decisions, but we can control how we respond to them and how we protect our peace.

As communities, we must also remember that resilience is not built in isolation. Local churches, nonprofits, and neighborhood groups can be powerful forces for stability and hope. Whether through food drives, mental health support, or simply creating safe spaces for honest conversation, we each have something to offer. When we share resources, stories, and compassion, we transform anxiety into action, and that action becomes healing.

Ultimately, this moment calls us back to our shared humanity. We may stand on different sides of political lines, but we are all standing on the same ground of uncertainty. The way forward is not through blame or bitterness, but through faith, empathy, and collective responsibility. When we choose to care for ourselves and one another, we become the light that outshines the darkness of division. The shutdown may be temporary, but our ability to rise, together, is enduring.

Family and friends, many of you have watched my son, Adrian Antonio Consonery Jr. grow up over the years, from his childhood days filled with curiosity and conviction to the man of purpose and integrity he’s become today. Whether you’ve known him personally, followed his journey on social media, or simply watched from afar, you’ve seen his deep love for people and his desire to serve.

Adrian is now running for Georgia Secretary of State, a role that carries tremendous responsibility in protecting democracy and ensuring fair, transparent elections across all 159 counties in our great state. This is a statewide campaign, and that means he’s on the road meeting Georgians where they are, sharing his vision, and working tirelessly to build a campaign rooted in integrity, inclusion, and accountability.

While many of you live outside of Georgia and can’t vote for him, I’m asking, as a mom who believes in her son’s calling, for your financial support in helping him reach this goal. Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a real difference. It helps fund travel, staff, and the commercials and media outreach needed to bring his message to every corner of the state.

If you’ve ever cheered for him, encouraged him, or prayed for him, I’m asking you to stand with him now. Please consider making a donation of any amount and sharing his campaign with your friends and family who live in Georgia.

Together, we can help Adrian continue to grow into the leader we all know he’s destined to be.

You can donate today by copying the link below or simple going to ActBlue.com and entering his name.

Thank you for any support given!

On this Purple Thursday
and every day I stand in solidarity with survivors of domestic violence to raise awareness for those still finding the courage to break free.

Domestic violence isn’t always visible,it can show up as emotional, financial, or spiritual control. Healing begins when we create safe spaces where people feel seen, heard, and supported.

As a faith-based counselor and advocate for emotional wellness, I’m reminded that God calls us to be voices for the voiceless and anchors for the hurting. Let’s continue to speak out, educate, and extend compassion, because everyone deserves to live free from fear.

If you or someone you know needs help, reach out to the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-SAFE (7233) or visit thehotline.org. You are not alone.

Today, I honor Indigenous Peoples’ Day.

This day is a reminder to pause and recognize the original caretakers of this land — the Indigenous communities whose traditions, stories, and strength continue to shape who we are as a nation.

Their resilience through generations is a lesson in perseverance, faith, and love for community. As someone who values connection and healing, I see this as a day not just of remembrance, but of reflection — to ask how we can honor that same spirit in the work we do and the lives we touch.

May we continue to listen, learn, and walk in gratitude for those who came before us.

Good morning, remember growth takes patience, and peace takes practice. The same way you pour into others, don’t forget to pour into you. Every small act of self-compassion keeps your fire burning for what’s next.

Today we pause for something that touches us all mental health.
This year’s theme reminds us that mental well-being isn’t a luxury, it’s a necessity. Whether you’re a parent, a professional, a student, or simply trying to navigate life’s challenges your feelings, your rest, and your peace matter.

Taking care of your mind is just as important as taking care of your body. So today, give yourself permission to:
Take a breath.
Speak up if you’re struggling.
Check in on someone you love.

Let’s continue breaking the stigma and building spaces where healing and hope thrive not just today, but every day.
