This 11x14” gallery wrapped canvas done in acrylic is called “Requiem.” This painting is of me as a little girl sitting next to my dearest possession I owned as a child— my stuffed bunny named Frisky.
I went to Kim’s studio at Backstreetart to finish this piece and had a lovely time seeing her and the other artists at work.

Today was a day for something completely new! I forged some silver jewelry. It was… a ridiculous amount of hammering. My first two turned out too small so I’ll turn those into pendants. The scrap silver leftover I fashioned into earrings. It was nice to try something new. I like a tarnished and beaten look so that is why it isn’t heavily polished or finished off with an acid bath. Many thanks to Kim for letting me learn in her studio with friends!

A small 2”x2” painting I did for my mom of a squirrel in acrylic. We have a lot of them running havoc in the back yard but… well, they’re half the joy of having a birdfeeder anyway.

Spent time this morning in the backstreet art studio making my heart. It now takes its place next to all the other hearts of those who come in!

“Beginnings” is a 24x30.5” piece done on wood with acrylic. I had originally completed this piece in 2010, but its journey wasn’t over. The wood was too thick so a few years ago it was put through a planar and then, with other projects demanding my attention, it waited. Now at the end of 2021 it is fully assembled, no longer as heavy as a murder weapon. There are many trees I have painted because I love them, but this was my first. It has been a fun adventure to return to where I started after so many years and give my beginning a proper conclusion.

This is a mixed media piece done with acrylic on wood boards that had belonged to my parents old shed which I cut and fixed together. It is 31x22” and is titled “Inside.” I completed this piece back in 2019 when the pandemic and everything else was hitting me. I thought taking bo burhams title “Inside” was perfect for this, as I also loved his latest release on mental health, loneliness, mental tolls, hope and growth.

This is the third painting in my Halloween decorating series. I don’t feel like he needs an introduction but if you’re really new to horror… “Freddy Kruger.” This piece is 18x24” on gallery wrapped canvas done in acrylic.

“The Black Dahlia.” This is a painting of Elizabeth Short, aka The Black Dahlia. She was an aspiring starlet murdered in 1947 with her killer never being caught. In my painting of her she is being lead off the 1947 Hollywood strip by an unseen man. This piece was done in acrylic on a 30x48” gallery wrapped canvas.

“The Chess Board.” I wanted to have a little fun imagining the different characters of chess pieces with this painting. I did this on a gallery wrapped canvas in acrylic, it is 12”x36”. I enjoyed doing the knights and rooks and great deal.
